    Medicine Cabinet/Carrier

I like to be able to leave without much planning so I built my own medicine cabinet in my Eagle shell years ago. It has everything I (and wife) need. Nothing additional to be moving in and out of the house. The box on the bottom is removable.

    Easy Roof Lift Device

Todd. I am not sure whose picture you are asking about; but in my submission this tube is pneumatic. It's just air that pushes the telescoping pole up. You turn the knob at the bottom of the pole and that releases the air that makes the pole telescope upward. After the roof is up and you...

    Easy Roof Lift Device

Hi Folks. Here's an update. I changed the design. Thank-you Free Range Human for your idea to move the extension to the bottom. Great idea! My new design is significantly better and I can lift the top with one finger! (I won't say which one). I have welding skills. So I built a steel...

    Easy Roof Lift Device

Homemade roof "assist" device. Been a long time since I posted work done on my 2008 Eagle shell. Due to injury to one arm, I was having difficulty lifting my roof despite having exterior roof lift pistons. The problem was getting it up past the initial 12-15 inches where the exterior...

Beating the Heat at June Lake - August 2020

Enjoyed the photos. Just curious what Eastern side of mountains is like right now? Did you stay at the June Lake Campground? Was it crowded? We stores in June Lake open? We love June Lake in the fall when the colors are out of this world.

    Hawk/ Truck Cover

I bought my Eagle new in 2008. It's been outside, on my 2008 Nissan truck, ever since and not covered. I live up in Northern Washington and get a lot of rain. It's held up just fine. No issues so far.

    Thermostat Failure 2015 Hawk

I gave up on thermostats (both digital and manual) a long time ago on my Eagle! I camp in very cold weather and the battery voltage was always a problem. Also, I don't run the heater while I sleep. So, I just installed a switch and a bright red "On/Off" LED. Never had a problem since. See...

    Rear switch cover?

I had same issue and put a cover over switch AND added a bright RED LED (see arrow) for the heater switch. That handle I bought would be too small for 4 switches but you might find something else like this at hardware store than could cover all four.

    Garbage Management

I am a beer drinker and glass bottles take up a lot of room. On long trips to remote places I always buy canned beer so that I can easily flatten the cans. There are some pretty good craft beers in cans these days.

Thoughts on securing fresh water drain from mischievous hands.

I have a valve on the inside and one on the outside of my camper. Never had any issues and I almost never close the one on the inside. If I was in the desert I might be more cautious.

    Atwood Excalibur Furnace issue

I have about the same vintage furnace and have spent a LOT of time investigating issues with mine in the past. The symptom you describe does not sound like the motherboard, but rather something related to the fan. If the fan does not spin, there is a sail safety switch (which blows in the...

    Mounting Bike fork mount

I welded two hooks to the metal box I built several years ago. The photo of the bumper box does not show the hooks yet installed. This swings out and away from the camper for easy access. Just an idea. It works quite well.

Top-down use: how often do you sleep in/use your FWC with the top down?

I, like ETAV8R, took it down in a sand storm in Death Valley and slept on the floor. Not just the wind, but also concerns about dust getting in. There was another guy in Death Valley that weekend who had a different brand of camper and the roof was ripped off.

    Using camper on jacks

Love your User Name. Ha Ha. Hope you don't get beamed into space by the Star Trek Police for using their name and picture. Love visiting Moab. Chris

    Realigning the camper?

I have had to re-align several times. I just disconnected the tie-downs, lifted the camper (using 4 jacks) about an inch higher than truck bed and pushed camper to the side using 2X4 as a lever. It moved quite easily. (of course I have an Eagle shell that is lighter than some others). Also...

    Whats your FWC?

It's an interesting question. I am just wondering why you didn't say a little bit more about who you are, and why you are asking the question. Just curious. Chris

    Heater in '06 FWC eagle

Hi, I had a similar problem. I found out a couple of things. If you put things in front of the furnace vents (like boots) it might impact flow and cause an issue. I also found that turning the outflow vent upside down (facing towards the flow) made a difference. What was happening is that...

    Planning a trip into S/E Oregon,ID & WA

In Washington I recommend skipping Mt Rainier. Beautiful but LOTS of people. Recommend instead going across the Cascades on Highway 20 (North Cacades Highway). Explore Harts Pass near Mazama. Also, Highway 542 going up Mt Baker is awesome and much fewer people than Rainier. If you go to...

    No Leaks

Way to go! So nice to hear positive news. I often think that a camper is a great way to be prepared for the next big earth event (whatever that may be). In my case I am thinking about earth quakes (Washington). My house might fall, but maybe my truck will still survive?

FWC Warranty - corrosion, service and propane

I had a small problem with the siding of my 2008 Eagle (purchased from the factory). It was minor. Appeared to be paint coming off the siding near the rear of the camper. It had nothing to do with electrolysis. See photo. I live in Washington but on a trip, I stopped by the company. They...

    Load bars

I like what you did. You eliminated the Yakama "landing pads" which allow you to connect to the long roof rails. Then, you added another company's cross bars which are much less expensive than Thule or Yakama. Cool. The one thing that I like about the setup I did by using the Yakama landing...

    Easy Kayak Lift to Roof

I just finished adding a newer way to lift my big & heavy ocean kayak onto the roof of my Eagle. I had this on my car and decided it would be great for the camper too. Here are some key points for anyone interested: It is a Thule "Hullivator" I have mounted the Hullavator on Yakama cross...
