That picture sure makes a flatbed camper attractive!.

    Smoke Detector

We recently set the smoke alarm off in my camper with a campfire. Not once but twice in the same trip. I've had more issues with the C01 monitor. Replaced the old one over the summer because it was false alarming so much just sitting in the drive. Stopped for gas the other day on a long...

First trip with new FWC Fleet – review and lessons learned

I have a couple of questions. Looks like 4WC has made some changes. My propane is accessed through a rear door from the outside. How is your propane accessed? it looks like a side door in the rear. Can the tanks be removed with camper in the truck? Also a comment. I think you will get used to...

    Camper on jack stands

Looking good Buckland. I would leave it up since it's inside. My Eagle is dry as a bone when opened. But occasionally gets a little water in the folds when closed. I leave it open in the drive often. I use "Moth Balls" in an open coffee can in my boats under the cover to keep away rodents...

    Kidde fire extinguisher recall

Guess I'll have to check this out. Between the house, different trucks, boat and camper I have a few of this brand of FE.

OK boys (and girls) time together your checkbook out...

The whole Overlanding thing is so last year. I'm over the whole concept and back to traveling and camping out of my truck!

FWC Camper Hawk Pull Handle Above Cab Over Bed Area

You could maybe use a strap to lock the lifting panel like in the rear. Wouldn't be much fun at setup time though.

    Fantastic Fan cover?

You want a flat one. The domed one is the problem.

    Batteries

I've been very pleased with my Powersonic sealed lead acid deep cycle. It's a commercial storage battery.

    Firestone airbags and daystar cradles?

Other than a synchronized highway bobbing I had in PA on a horrible truck rutted road about a month ago. I'm still happy with mine.

    Fantastic Fan cover?

I'll bet you have the wrong cover. I did the same as above and also got the wrong cover. I ended up buying one from fantastic fan. No warranty though.

    propane consumption

It has weird seals. I think very short model run. Last I looked it was one of the few that don't have replacement parts. Not really an issue. I don't use it!

    propane consumption

I have one of those steak savers. Chances are it will never get used. Mainly because I have no other reason to carry a small propane bottle. My camp stove is ISO- Butane. I don't use anything propane other than what's mounted in the truck. I have a really nice used twice Coleman 2 burner...

    propane consumption

About a year ago I had both my 10 lb propane bottles in my Eagle topped off. Since then only one has been hooked up to the camper. I've probably spent 30-40 nights in the camper since then. making coffee in the am occasional cooking. And using the furnace mainly before bed and in the morning for...

    Hot glue gun?

Ha Ha! My son get's me the Mil spec stuff. Don't really use it for much though. Actually the show business part of my life was long ago. A full career at the phone company replaced duct tape with Black tape and cable ties! Reality is these days I don't work that much on temporary stuff. I try...

    Hot glue gun?

I used to be a stagehand many years ago. When doing that work we used them constantly on scenery ect. I have one now but rarely use it. Can't remember the last time I used it. Hot glue is great for quick fixes on paper, cardboard, fabric kinda stuff. Works well for patching carpet. For more...

    Fleet Bottom Slats

Keep everything well painted. Cheap insurance. I just repainted mine this spring. Latex porch enamel works well and isn't expensive. I was going to use a DIY bed liner but cheaped out. My camper is 5 years old and the original paint has held up well. So I went the same route.

    Fleet Tacoma Bucking/Shuddering/Bouncing

A couple of weeks ago I had this happen to me in the 1st gen Tundra with Eagle camper. The 1st time ever on I-81 north in PA. The truck bounce was so beat into the pavement that my truck synced up and started bouncing in sympathy with the road. 1st time I've ever had this happen that bad in any...

    Fleet Bottom Slats

I'd be very careful about replacing the skid strips with a foam sheet. The foam has the potential to compress and loosen the turnbuckles.

    Rock rails versus Running boards

x2 on the custom sliders. Off the shelf stuff won't support a 1 ton with a camper! The longer the wheel base the more likely you'll high center the truck on the rockers. No reason they can't be built to replace the camper tie down as well. My Tundra came with running boards on it. They are...

You know you're a geezer when.......................

It used to be fast women, beautiful horses, old whisky. I still like beautiful women(they all are), beautiful horses, Old whiskey! It's been a long time since I could keep up with fast anything!

    E bikes?

Part of my reason for doing this was to use the bikes as a dingy behind the camper. When we camp at the beach town is 3 miles away. My bud uses a highway legal scooter for running when he parks his motor home. Same deal there are times it would be nice to run into town to eat at a restaurant or...

    E bikes?

ETA, Yeppers the bike has great brakes. I have brake pads that can't be bought anymore. They stop as well as disks. The tires that are on it at the moment are made for a cushy ride on beach cruisers and such. They are fine but I won't be pushing high speeds with them. i have another identical...

    Zinc Screw = Sacrificial Anode?

In my Eagle camper there is a small ground plate screwed to the roof frame. It's inside the opening where the solar wires go through under the front lifting board. When I checked it one of the screws was almost falling out and the other was very loose. I tightened it up and all is good. Left...

    E bikes?

Beautiful day. Did a nice 12 mile ride on the bike. I adjusted the controller last night to give me 9 levels of assist instead of 5. Smaller and finer increments. I was able to get a nice workout without overly straining my knees. I live on a ridge surrounded by 2 creeks that meet around the...
