Best cell phone carrier for "wandering"?

I use Walmart's Straight Talk $45/month unlimited with one of their cheap phones- uses what ever carrier is strongest- also know that the Android thats available with that plan DOESNT have the same coverages as the cheap flip phone from there.. *upgraded- found that out, now have 2 phones one...

    Building a back porch

I started with paint/primer yesterday but too windy  . I learned a new technique, put a hole in the bottom of a spray can of your favorite paint (nail with a rag over it), then drain the paint into a real spray gun, and spray away  I thought the can would blow but it just hisses the...

    Camper Shipping?

This may not be such a bad option if I turn it in to a camping trip. I have been dying to see NFLD. What better way to explore the Rock than with a FWC. Ottawa will be a heck of a lot closer! The rock, highly recommended for FWC's!

    Building a back porch

Well I finally got my hauler/back porch finished enough to put to work. I had my diesel mechanic/fabricator build it and he struggled with it. I think the biggest challenge is getting the two receiver hitches and tubes just right so it can slide in an out reasonably easily. Right now getting...

what do you do in bear country?

I didn't mean to offend you. But there are studies. The question and observation that menstruation could be a factor was made and then became the basis of experiment for scientists and groups that very much want to protect people in bear country. Their conclusion is that there is no evidence...

What do you use for steps?

I use something similar to the 2 step that Pods has plus I add this for the dogs. I now have 3 receiver tubes on the back so I can place it in either but usually on the drivers side tube. Great for the dogs and a nice big platform for human klutzes as well. It was a cheap Harbor Freight...

    Making a Ranger 2 Lighter

Thanks Pods. I agree with you about first looking at the interior. A 50 lbs weight savings alone doesn't seem worth the $ and hassle of building a new floor pack. However the extra insulation and the ability build the floor pack to the exact dimensions of my truck is worth consideration...

Petroglyphs, lava, and steam trains UP844

Nice pics, Barko. Enjoyed 'em. There is a trailhead at Three Rivers FS campground that gives access to the White Mountain Wilderness, too. I like that campground a lot for its views and wilderness access. Did you shoot the pics of the engine in Carrizozo? I never heard anything about it...

Petroglyphs, lava, and steam trains UP844

The last made steam locomotive, Union Pacific 844, was coming near and while I don't know much about big old trains it sounded cool. To get closer to where the train would be, and to enjoy a night camping, my daughter and I and the 3 dogs headed towards the Three River Petrogylph site 30+ miles...

Best cell phone carrier for "wandering"?

Yeah, haven't figured out how to set favorites yet. Browsing on a phone is definitely different. I was surprised to find the thing comes with a pretty good map. Even has some dirt roads on it. Might have to look for camping apps. Campwhere seems to be a good app.

Coast to Coast in a Hawk.

Camp Walmart Savannah GA tonight. Saw Pearls Topiary's this morning unreal. Pearlfryar.com I will get up pictures with I have time to edit and a better connection. Bill Harr Bet it's hard to dig a cathole in those parking lots  Check the thread on Big Bend, you'll be passing through...

The long road to Big Bend National Park

Stew, is that snow or are the Sands really that White? Hmmm....OK, I see the mountains in the background are bare, so I guess that must be sand. Camping there is pretty cool but dining seems to involve digesting some of that white stuff. BLM has some nice backcountry byways in AZ, just NE of...

The long road to Big Bend National Park

BTW Big Bend can get cold, I've camped by the river in December and woke up to 9 degrees. Usually the low elevations are very nice, averages high 60's with lows near freezing. Higher elevations stay a bit cooler of course but not quite as cold in the morning. Snow can be possible in the Chisos...

The long road to Big Bend National Park

Check out Big Bend Ranch State Park, along the river East of Presidio. Other points to look at Bahlmorhea State Park off I10, huge natural spring corralled into a giant swimming pool, Davis Mountains, Prada by Valentine  , Guadalupe Mtns for hiking, also a lot of backroads West of there. In...
