Looking for info on this camper

OK, You've piqued my interest. Nice home-built. Plenty of nice pics. You might use Google translate to talk to the guy. Here's the translation of some of his posts. Google translate is a little rough but better than my French: Hello everyone, Not really talkative on the forum but rather...

    New Fleet Questions

I couldn't find struts less than 22#. FWC said their lightest is 30#. I put a 28# steel bar on the front rack to help it come down.

    Failed roof strut bracket

I installed three hole brackets with 10-24 riv-nuts. Seems to me they have more strength than sheetmetal screws.

    Central CA Recommendos?

In the winter I like to visit Caswell State Park near Ripon for a day or two, Pretty little riparian area on the Stanislaus River with old oaks, sycamores and wild grape vines. A couple of nature trails along the river too. Showers and flush toilets and close to town.

what is depth of wheel well bench on driver's side in Fleet shell?

I think you should wait until you have it. I know, it's hard, but things change out there in Woodland.

New to me: 07 Hawk Shell!

I took a more low-tech approach: 1# propane bottles for a stove then a cooktop and a Mr Heater Little Buddy. I only use the heater when I'm up and awake.

    Ordering countertop from FWC

The problem with factory laminate (Formica) is the particle board backing. Moisture makes the underside swell and will bow the top if not well fastened down. If I were going to use it I would do it old school; glue it to plywood with contact adhesive and edge it with a trim router. Laminate...

How did you get into camping?

Woke up one morning, walked out of my place in LA, the smog had been blown away, and there were mountains! Right there! I started with hiking and it just became some kind of obsession.

    Basic NOOB camper questions

In my 2000 FWC the wires went straight up behind a folding panel and over time they broke but it was a simple fix. The side curtain has held up fine though I'm stating to see some pinholes. The length is overall on the outside. How to store the camper has stirred up an entire thread on the...

Here's my 2000 Eagle Shell remodel

Just gotta move some junk like I always did. Actually it's easier. I used to have that convertible bench seat and sliding doors over the turnbuckle holes. I put self-closing flip-down doors over the turnbuckle holes and will be making flip-down doors with self-closing hinges in the right...

Here's my 2000 Eagle Shell remodel

Here you go. It's a piece of 2" (50mm) ABS pipe with a short piece of 1 1/2" (38mm) ABS dropped in to lift the chair a bit. 2 3/8" (60mm) holes through the plywood. It's a little sloppy but I'll wrap it with some tape to shim it if it ever bothers me. Sat in it a few hours last weekend and...

Here's my 2000 Eagle Shell remodel

The 100 watt solar panel runs the 12v. cooler during the day. It’s enough to keep things cool through the night. The lights run on an eight pack of “D” batteries which last very long. I’m working on a rechargeable set-up but if I don’t unplug the cooler, it drains the small batteries. The...

Here's my 2000 Eagle Shell remodel

The two burner stove runs several days on a 14 oz. propane bottle. This is probably a code violation somewhere, but I've done it this way for years, carefully, and have not had any problems.

Here's my 2000 Eagle Shell remodel

I’m a remodeling contractor so when I’m in my Eagle shell, I’m often thinking of how I’d change it. This Winter I did it. I had several criteria: 1. 30” clear floor space to let me put my Thermarest pad on the floor for camping incognito; such as in front of your house. 2. I’m 6’4” and I...
