RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Rieco titan tripod jack

I should hopefully be ok because I do not have a dually. I bought the truck used and it has 12.5 inch tires with a ridiculous offset. So hopefully the box is enough. Thank you for the ideas though!

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Rieco titan tripod jack

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your alaskans! I am hoping someone can do me a favor.... I need to make a box extension so that my front jacks stick out an extra 4 inches so that my tires will not rub on the tripods. I was going to measure the face plates where the jacks attach before I...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Heating your camper

Wow what a whirlwind that was. Page 16 almost had me in tears. It's like reading a life story. Took a few days to get through 72 pages but definitely worth it. And I think no matter what I will need propane for cooking. But I might still get a diesel heater just to give me something to do and...

I did see those but that price tag is holding me back. I really liked the espar water version to keep my truck coolant warm while camping and camper warm while driving.

I was originally hoping to completely do away with propane but the more I search the less viable that seems. And it seems people with alot more means and money have tried as well. Also propane heat is just so wet. I want a dry heat. I want to be able to winter camp and not have the windows iced...

What were the convincing points to not go diesel?

Yeah it calls for a 4' chimney, plus having to lower and raise the camper. It would need to be detchable which would turn into most likely a mess and a hole in the roof.

Ok gotcha, do you have any photos of the original propane heater installed? Or the new heater going in?

I'm a little confused as to what you're saying. Did you install a chinese version into your camper?

Nice I'll have to check that out. I have been wondering if those heaters were a waste of money or not. But for only 100$ it would be hard not to try. Even if it only lasted 2 years

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Heating your camper

Good morning to you all! It's been awhile since I posted here and I've been able to use my camper a few times. Even managed to catch some fish while doing so! My question today is: have any of you thought about converting your heater into a diesel heater like an espar or maybe a small wood...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Insulating

Yeah as of right now I need about 3 inches of elevation to stay above the cab, so I think I may just build a platform. I cant remember what the bottom of my camper is like but idk why they wouldn't encapsulate it in fiberglass to prevent rot

I would have to agree with you I wish there was some sort of insulation in the lower half. I asked Alaskan camper and they said it's just the way they've been doing it since the 50s. I think it's time for a change! I also think they dont insulate the lower half because there is so much less...

Yeah stepping on carpet sounds much warmer and would help soak up some snow melt.

Yeah I was thinking as many spots as possible in the lower camper, behind the cupboards if possible and definitely below the seats which should be easy access.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Upgraded Gasket for cabover

All the seals between the upper section and lower section are intact and fine. It is only the seal for the 3 folding panels for the bed section of the cab over. It has some round black foam seal that does not have any response or form holding abilities. So when I fold the panels up and lock them...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Insulating

Does anybody have experience with an insulated floor compared to a non insulated floor? I would like to be as prepped as possible for winter camping. I'm thinking the greatest points of intrusion for the cold are the cabover folding sections and where the upper and lower camper connect. It...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Upgraded Gasket for cabover

I'm wondering if anybody has used double roll gasket material for the three cabover folding pieces. The gasket material that came with mine has flattened completely and is no longer expanding creating quite the draft and noise entrance. The gasket material I'm thinking of using is the same as...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West elevating camper from the truck bed

I use 4x4 with mine to elevate high enough for the cab. No issues. The center of gravity is already much lower than a similar hard side.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking for exterior height

For what it's worth, I can take the camper off my truck in less than 30 minutes and put it on in less than an hour and that's only having done it a few times. Install is definitely a two person job because its such a tight fit in my truck bed. If it was a flatbed it would be no issue. But what...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking for exterior height

I see you're getting AC, that unit sits on top of the camper and is anywhere from 6-8 inches tall. Unless you have an oversized garage door there is no way you're getting it in there. And when these are installed into the bed, they add 2-4 inches of wood to raise it off the deck and allow for...

I actually just took this measurement, I have a 2008 GMC sierra 2500hd with a 7' cab over and my truck, had a 2 inch squat in the rear.
