RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Alaskan Rubber Bumpers/ Bed Mat Question

I don’t know what they are doing currently but when I got my 7’ 2020 they didn’t put any bumpers and it definitely rubbed on the front of the bed. It cosmetically isn’t great but doesn’t seem to be an issue beyond that. I hope they are doing something better by now. They custom cut 2x4’s with a...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Replacement Roof Vent/Fan

Probably too late but in case anyone else comes along, I replaced mine with a Maxxair deluxe that has the cover over it so bugs and rain can’t get in but you can still leave it open. I’d go for that one as it’s only a bit more but well worth it.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West winterize in five minutes

There is no fancy hookup, I just cup my hand around the outlet on the drain for example and then hold the small vacuum hose end on the other side. The vacuum is powerful enough it does a great job of sucking out all the water. For the pump I carefully suck the water out of it through the screw...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West How do you all organize your storage?

I try and keep outside things in the back seat of the truck and inside things in the Alaskan. Food is primarily all in the camper. I have two large bins that hold most stuff in the cab. I rotate things we need based on the trip type. If I plan on staying somewhere I will bring things like a camp...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Advantages of NCO?

I haven't owned an NCO, but have had / own three CO's all late model or new. I think advantages on an NCO would be better seal since no overhead doors and lower profile since you don't have to clear the cab. Construction wise it also doesn't have the CO part which will probably mean more...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West winterize in five minutes

I don’t like putting the RV anti-freeze in, so I do it a bit different. I use a shop vac to suck all the water out of the lines including the drain line since that line never actually drains. It also seems to get all the water out of the city and fresh water fill lines. I leave the basket off...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Concern with the Bathroom/Toilet

The newer Thetford cassette toilets don’t have to be swiveled out because they sit back further. So you can close the closet doors without rotating the toilet. My 2020 is that way and I think they changed the toilet in the last couple of years. I think if you need more privacy the step out...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Camper bed platform for Ford SuperCab

I have a 2020 F350 and Alaskan built up a base using a 2x4 with a piece of plywood on top to get it to the right height. It’s really close to the cab, but it seems like it’s been fine. I can measure the height of the wood planks to see how high it raises it. You would probably need to add though...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Alaskan Window screen removal

My 2016 is the same way. Not sure how to do it other than maybe spray from the inside to the outside? And then scrub it. My 2020 has screens that slide and I think they can be removed more easily. Seems like a bit better of a design.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Thickness of your cushions

I put in the Exped Duo 10 and it’s fantastic. I like it better than the foam mat that came in it, mines a 2016.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West done with the traditional Dometic 3 way.

I have the Novakool fridge and love it, just works. I wish it was the bigger model though, it’s tight when we go on longer trips.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Preventative Maintenance

I’m in Utah so it is very cold and then the snow is a problem. I’ve thought about putting together some sort of dolly so I can roll it into the garage. Not sure if I can get it low enough to make that work since it has the air conditioner on it. I read some mixed feelings on a tarp, I think when...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Preventative Maintenance

I'm wondering what I should be doing maintenance wise on my Alaskan. I want to make sure no water gets in. I have a 2016 8' cabover. I talked to Brian at Alaskan a bit and he said to check around the seams and use non-siliconized caulk on it. I'm interested in what everyone suggests and maybe...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West STEP UP Folding Stairs Storage

I was wondering what to do with them also. They are a giant pain to take off and on. Do you use a wrench to tighten them down and loosen when removing or is there some kind of quick connect thing that can be used? They are great when on, but I wish there was a better way to stow them.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Where to order Pirelli seals

According to a video I saw with Bryan he said every 3-5 years. In talking to others it sounds like it depends on condition. If they are starting to look ratty and your in that time frame maybe time to replace.
