Probably too late but in case anyone else comes along, I replaced mine with a Maxxair deluxe that has the cover over it so bugs and rain can’t get in but you can still leave it open. I’d go for that one as it’s only a bit more but well worth it.

My 2016 is the same way. Not sure how to do it other than maybe spray from the inside to the outside? And then scrub it. My 2020 has screens that slide and I think they can be removed more easily. Seems like a bit better of a design.

I put in the Exped Duo 10 and it’s fantastic. I like it better than the foam mat that came in it, mines a 2016.

I was wondering what to do with them also. They are a giant pain to take off and on. Do you use a wrench to tighten them down and loosen when removing or is there some kind of quick connect thing that can be used? They are great when on, but I wish there was a better way to stow them.

According to a video I saw with Bryan he said every 3-5 years. In talking to others it sounds like it depends on condition. If they are starting to look ratty and your in that time frame maybe time to replace.
