Davinski, thought I'd put up a few more photos of interior, in case you needed more visuals. They probably are not that different than the pics I already posted, but they might stir some ideas. I'm happy w/ this set up, as my shell is pretty small and it allows some interior room, but still some...

Kcowyo is right. Those desert winds will rip the crap out of any awning out there. It's windy here today on the CA. central coast, I set the awning up and had to tie it down just to take a few more pics, that I hope to post tonight. I'm thinking I'll be able to use poles and tie downs to allow...

It's very easy to set up. It was also easy to mount. I'll get to sending details and pics of the structure and the install soon. I sealed those holes with high grade marine caulking. Don't mess around with cheap caulking. As far as drilling holes in your camper, I like doing that. I just think...

Dave, Thanks. Is your shell empty, or do you have the fold out couch added? My seat is simple. It folds over on itself and is supported by two legs. I'll send some detail photos soon. I built the cabinet around a propane box I made out of wood. I dont have any water tanks. just a sink that can...

Davinsky started a thread RE: custom work on campers. Here are a few photos of the bed/heater and storage sink and stove cabinets I've added to my circa 1996 shell model...

Well, I didn't get the camper on today, so no awning pics. Supposed to rain tommorrow, so we'll see. I'd also like to post some pics to davinskis custom insides thread. That is a great thread so far. Again, Thanks to all with the kind words regarding my families situation. I'll get busy posting...

With any luck tommorrow, I'll get my camper on my truck, away from that aforementioned fence and take some overdue photos of the shady boy awning. I've been out of town for the last 6 days. Haven't seen my wife for 1 1/2 weeks. Her mother is in bad shape and may die in a matter of days or weeks...

Chnlisle, where are you moving from? We live near Santa Cruz, actually in Aptos on the central coast of California and I'm trying to convince my wife that I should retire early, sell our house and move to the Nevada City area near Truckee. Seems like it would be a nice place to live. Mountains...

Thanks again guys. I look forward to meeting folks out there. In all my travels, I have never seen a FWC owner in the DV backcountry. Must just be coincidence, as I see more and more of them on the road. My dates to be out are 4/20 to 4/28. Sounds likle Chnlisle might be moving? Brian, what was...

Thanks you guys. We'll get through this. It will be a long haul though. I've been going out to D.V. backcountry almost 25 years (1/2 my life). I've had my daughter, Maya, out in the desert several times, but this trip we'll be going to see some of dads favorite places. She's a total desert rat...

Brian, that hennessey hammock setup rocks. I have a couple hammocks from trips to the Yucatan. Are the Hennessey's more comfortable? I saw on a web site that some come with no seeum netting and a rainfly. Any comparisons from personal experience? I know I've rolled out of my hammocks on occasion...

pvstoy, I accidentally said in my last post that I added 1.5 inch memory foam pads to my bed. Actually, they are 1 inch memory foam pads. I know what you mean about not much room left to close the top of the camper. I found the 1" pads would work, I just have to manually pull the lid down a...

By the way Chnlisle, you could call me George, but real name is Steve. I appreciate yours and the few other comments that relate my online name to such great books and a great author, aka, Ed Abbey. Just so a few people know, my Mother in Law is in pretty bad shape. Looks like my wife will miss...

I have the old mid 90's covered foam matresses on my bed, and they have not been comfortable for several years. I'm getting older, and so are the pads. I bought some 1.5 inch memory foam at overstock.com for a great price about a month ago. cut two pieces to fit my pull out and am using them...

Bluefly, Sorry I have not written anything about the ShadyBoy awning yet. I mounted it, but the camper is off the truck next to a fence. I have not been able to extend the awning due to the proximity of the fence. I have some family illnesses going on and am driving my truck around the state to...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Washboard Roads

Brian and Brett13 pretty much said it. Just slow down. Reduce pressure and slow down and you'll be in a different world. Like I said, advocates of speeding up just makes the washboards worse for others (like me). If everyone knew this, we probably wouldn't be having this post. Pretty much any...

John D, I don't know where the Dalton and Dempster Highways are, but PV Stoy said it. Lower your air pressure. I usually start with 15 lbs lower and adjust from there depending on the severity of the washboards. I carry a "standard" 260 psi pump and it takes forever to fill those babies back up...

I never had a bench seat as I have a 1996 shell model. I recently built a platform, hinged about 2/3rds of the way out from the window. I still have easy access to the turnbuckles and the thing doesn't stick out into walking are when it's folded. I would get the screen door, and already talked...
