Decided to scratch the idea of using the camp stove, and just re-use the old RV stove since it was smaller and space was at a premium. While wandering around the garage, I eyeballed an old tool chest, and lo and behold, it fits almost perfectly in the space where the kitchen cabinet would go...

Ended up building a platform that raised the camper off the bed 7 inches (in retrospect, about an inch too high - but it gives some good storage space) and moved the camper over to the passenger side of the truck. We extended and braced the angle iron on the front and back drivers side, and used...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Wiring from truck to camper

I have some relays that I think I will use instead, and since I need to get wire I will run 8ga from the truck battery positive. What gauge wire would you run from the negative camper battery terminal to the negative terminal on the truck? Also 8 gauge?

I was hoping to use a switched circuit on that circuit block to keep the camper from draining the battery when the truck isn't running. What gauge of wire would you recommend running from the battery to the camper, and what amperage would you fuse it at?

Can I connect the battery in the camper to the truck battery on a line that is fused at 20a? The reason I ask is I have a Painless Wiring circuit block (This one) that I intend on using (leftover from another project) and the wires are only rated for 20 amps. Thanks! Chris

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Gutted Fleet - Rebuilding

Thanks for the advice! I decided not to tackle this...yet. There was a bit of separation on the drivers side, and I'm sure the floor pack on my camper could use a rebuild, but I was hoping to get on the road in a few weeks so I decided to just seal up the floor on that side, and build a platform...

So there is no metal framing along the floor except the front and back? How difficult do you think it would be to remove just the floor? I need to build a platform to raise my 81 Fleet up 6 inches, and although I'm only 5'10" and it's not a huge problem, a few more inches of headroom would be...

Check out Craig333's photo of his set up. Coleman sells the stuff to hook up their propane stoves to bulk propane: http://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/index.php?/topic/4457/page__st__10 While there, look at Mark W. Ingalls photo of a Coleman camp stove that's a grill/burner combo. I think when...

Here are some of the ideas I've been throwing around: I decided to go ahead and move the water tank from behind the propane box, to under the front bench to gain more space and move the weight forward. And move the water fill to the drivers side of the camper, and move the sink to the forward...

On our older Keystone the water tank is located under the front bench/seat, so it sits center, with a battery on each side, and room for a couple of leveling blocks beteen the tank and batteries. Think the tank is about 16 gallons or so. Where is your water fill located at? Mine is against...

Well, I just got back from 2 weeks on the road picking up the camper, and now that I'm home it's time to address some of the issues. The kitchen cabinet is totally trashed, and I'd like to figure out some way to maximize the space. Drawers? Cabinets? Baskets? Any suggestions? Has anyone moved...

Thanks everyone. I already ripped the icebox out yesterday and got a cooler to fit in its space. I ended up doing some pretty decent offroading in Sedona, and I was really impressed by how the camper and the truck handled. There's no way I would have felt comfortable doing that with even a small...

Hi everyone, I recently bought a Fleet camper to go on my 2006 F-150 so I could take some time and camp around the southwest and head up to Seattle and Vancouver in a few months. I've spent 5 nights in it so far (and will probably do another week before I head back to Las Vegas) I built a...
