This is a really cool looking spot, and its soo close to home. I must have been by that area a dozen times, but have never thought to head back in there. The photos really paint a picture. Nice shots of the snake too. Peraonally, I think they are a little creepy and I am a little paranoid...

Another thought (or is it an afterthought now?), The 1/2T will do better on mileage with a light camper setup. I still do about 18mph on the freeway. And that is loaded.

Wow, seems that opinions are all over the map on this one, so I'll throw mine in there too. I personally have the truck that I think is perfect for a custom build. It's a Nissan Titan. This is essentially a half ton truck. If you get one with the off road package the axles, wheels and shocks...

After leaving Leslie Gulch and passing through Silver City (which is gonna have to be another trip topic I think), my wife (aka 'beer wench') and I headed to the Owyhee river below the reservoir where, as promised, came the icing on the cake.......... 'nough said!

Dirty Dog was in his element.......Just another day at the office. At the bottom of Leslie Gulch is the original cabin that a Mr. Lesley ranched out of before being struck by lightening in the late 1800's. Wow, tough luck.

Wildflowers were in full Spring show-off mode and dotted the hillsides everywhere we looked. Leslie Gulch which from an ex-rock climber's standpoint was nirvana. Gorgeous pocket rock with bizarre erosive patterns were everywhere. Pee break at the top of the Gulch :unsure:

The next Day we headed up Succor creek... We stopped off to hunt for thundereggs at Succor Creek campground. It was all great and we couldn't imagine it getting much better until we entered Leslie Gulch.

We finally arrived at Succor Creek to find DD had already located a perfect campsite right on the creek. He had carefully gone around and marked all the bushes to let other campers know it was ours....or maybe that was Diego. Anyway, dinner was just about ready fresh out of the new dutch...

Hmmm, not super secure. That's probably why the guy in the picture has a 12 gauge shotgun. These tent type truck bed deals are great if you live in southern Arizona and only camp between rain storms.

Great point Mark. It is more time and cost effective to use what already exists and build or modify around it. No need to totally reinvent the wheel. I did know the super camper guy was an engineer. And your right, when considering a complete build it can be expensive. What I'm considering...

I'm pretty new here, but really have joined up because the overall group seems to be innovative and looking for good off road camper solutions. I don't know about you guys, but I think that in general the camper manufacturers are letting us down a little bit in that they make just what they make...
