RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Silverado 2500 Payload

I don't know why it didn't hit me earlier when Old Crow posted it but 2416 - 900 (6 x 150 NHTSA per passenger) = 1516 which matches what is printed on the camper sticker. So in answer to my own question, no my truck can't magically tell the difference between a camper and a load of shingles...

You would be correct, it is a double cab. I thought maybe my sticker had an error also until I saw the post from oldcrow that included a camper loading manual including a picture on page 4 of a glove box sticker that showed A=11 and B=1 so I figured maybe my 0 was correct That makes sense that...

I double checked the sticker, B is shown as 000in.

GT-Jim... There should be a Truck Camper Loading Information label in your Silverado's glovebox. If you don't mind, can you tell us what it says for CWR (Cargo Weight Rating) and A and B measurements? Thanks. The sticker shows 33" for the A measurement and 0" for the B measurement. CWR is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Silverado 2500 Payload

Anybody got an idea why my 2018 Silverado diesel is rated for 2416 lbs payload but only 1516 lbs for silde in camper? I wouldn't think the truck would know the difference between 2400 lbs. of shingles vs 2400 lbs. of camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How can I mount something to the outside of camper?

I like it, looks nice. May have to look into that someday.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Timing Belt Failures On Tundras?

A guy I work with had a Jetta with a timing belt that had a tick over 100K miles. I reminded him to get his belt changed and a few weeks later he and his wife left for the in-laws and made it 60 miles and the belt broke. He's not a car guy and I don't think he understood the consequences...

Hallmark switched to the 1 piece fiberglass roof in 2008.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Yikes! My micro-starter batteries broke out of their cases

Watch where you purchase also. When I was researching a jump start battery I was informed that there are AntiGravity branded chinese knockoffs on Ebay. I bought my AntiGravity battery from a local auto parts retailer for peace of mind.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Hot Water Heater

Yeah, your ok. From what I understand Attwood is an aluminum tank and does not need an anode rod.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Hot Water Heater

Thanks all. The first time I winterized my camper I didn't think about it and then somewhere I read a discussion about the difference between Attwood and Suburban and one needing an anode and one not. This year when I drained the heater I noticed the "nub" of the anode in the plug so I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Hot Water Heater

My water heater is a Suburban SW4D installed in a 2015 K2. The plug is steel and has a bore hole on the inside (about 1/2" diameter) with a short piece or rod that appears to be steel welded from the outside. By the way, thanks for all the attention. This is my first camper of any kind and I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Hot Water Heater

Yes, the big plug used for draining the tank. From what I have read there should be an anode rod attached to this plug. Mine has never had one.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hallmark Hot Water Heater

Can someone offer any insight as to why Hallmark would remove the anode rod from the hot water heater? I know from research that the Suburban water heater typically has an anode rod. This is only the third year I have owned it but have thought about it every time I winterize it. Is this...

2012 Chevrolet 2500 4x4 6.0 gas with Hallmark K2 pulling motorcycle trailer with 500 lb. bike. 1900 mile trip out west from SD to ID averaged out to 11 for the entire trip, flat lands, hills, interstate, mountain passes (4000 rpm), tail wind, head wind. Thought I would share what we just did. We replaced our queen size 3" foam mattress with two Thermarest Mondoking 3D mattresses. The Mondoking is a 4" self inflating air mattress with verical side walls and two together make a queen, the straight sides allow them to mate perfectly. A side...

Lost my sale for sure. I was in early contact with them about a build but was fortunate that I ran across the My Taco thread before I got two far along. I understand everything can have faults but how it is handled means a lot and that thread scared me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West So we're going to the Hallmark factory...

We picked ours up last spring and they gave us a rubber bed mat. The only thing they asked is that we get a spray in bedliner as it will provide more grip for the mat. I told that to the Linex installer and he sprayed with a little extra texture for me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another new Hallmark

I wouldn't worry about the mounting too much. I was curious about how my mounting would be after reading the earlier posts too but it was all installed per the manufacturers instructions. I do agree that the front anchors seem to be too long for the Happy Jack Front Tiedown, I am planning on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another new Hallmark

We recently brought our brand new K2 home from our first trip, 2500 miles and 10 nights. All went good and everything was constructed very well. Two screws missed the framework under the dinette and squeaked and had a couple of vendor relate problems common to all manufacturers but were taken...

My work order shows Happijac front and Torklift rear with spring loaded turnbuckles. I'll confess, I don't know what any of this means. I too am relying on thier expertise to make the correct choice. I will have to do some reading.

Could someone please explain the turnbuckle issue to a newbie? I will be picking up our Hallmark K2 in May and this will be our first camper ever. It would be nice to be able to have whatever it takes to remedy the problem when we take delivery.
