RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck bed / camper gap - Platform & shelving system

While camping with my buddy in Anza Borrego, he said “we needed some shelves to keep stuff off the ground”. Back @ home, I came up with these 7/8” plywood pieces that fit between my truck bed and Hawk camper. The size was chosen such that they fit into the gap of my Aluminess rear bumper...

Thanks for the thought. On my other side I often have surfboards so this is just like a small board. But your comment is noted.

Recovery Board (Maxtrax / X-Bull) mount for Thule / Yakima racks In my travels, I do my best not to get stuck; however, sometimes things happen and having recovery boards make the whole situation much less of a pain in the butt. Where Maxtrax are thin and stack nicely, a price tag above $300...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What walkie talkie sets do you use?

All, I do a bit of convoy driving with peeps in the back country. We have used CB's for years but it seemed that FRS/GMRS with the privacy codes had some advantages. After quite a bit of research here's what I've come up with: HAM works for talking to your group, but it shines when reaching...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West SuperSprings vs. Air Bags - FWC Hawk

I have begun the quest for figuring out what to do to help my rear end on my '08 Tundra. Sorry for the long winded details, but from my searching, I have a very typical setup and I could not find any great answers. A few details: 1. I have a nicely appointed Hawk on my '08 Tundra (Double...

Ah Ha. I was not hitting the "More Reply Options". If you just start typing a response, then the picture attachment window does not show up! Thank you yovik! So here are some picts (not of my rig) but you should get the idea. When I get a chance, I will put mine on and take some picts.

I can't figure out how to post a picture to an existing tread. I'll post some when I get it figured out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Fishing Rod Holder

Here's the fishing rod holder I put together for my trout rods in my FWC-Hawk. It will be held on via screws and wingnuts in the storage holders (so clamp is only temporary). Have not used it yet, but I had a similar setup in my last Pop-Up (Northstar TC650) which worked well.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hitch bicycle rack suggestions

Fellow Wanders, As this forum confirms, there appears to be the challenge of finding that ‘perfect’ tool for the job, in this case a bike rack that works with our campers. Firstly, let me preface this by saying, I’ve done 15,000+ of miles traveling with bikes on the back of my vehicles, many...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Trash-a-Roo mount for Four Wheel Camper (likely would work for any truck camper)

Having used a Trash-a-Roo camping, I really wanted one; however, I did not have a spare tire to hang it on. I received one for Christmas so I had to figure something out. I was heading out for a week camping up the Eastern Sierra and wanted to use it. I know this does not look great, but I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC not permitted at Washington State Park Tent sites

Fellow Wanders, So, today I had a very interesting conversation today with a Grand Canyon administrator on this topic. I will be camping at GC this summer with both my Hawk and a tent. So, what spot do I pick? The administrator was very nice and helpful on this topic. She clarified the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Removable Outdoor Shower Mount

To answer 'pvstoy', yes I changed shower heads. It does have an 'on and off' valve and works a bit nicer. Also, it used the same threads so no cutting was needed. Here's the Amazon link for it. http://a.co/0tY59Un

From my 4Wheel Camper Post: Removable Outdoor Shower Mount As awesome as it is to have a hot outdoor shower, its a bit inconvenient to have to hold the shower head. As I did not want to mount anything to the outside, preserving the 'clean' look, this is what I came up with. The pictures are...

As awesome as it is to have a hot outdoor shower, it's a bit inconvenient to have to hold the shower head the whole time. As I did not want to mount anything to the outside, preserving the 'clean' look, this is what I came up with. The pictures are pretty self explanatory, but basically it...

I just stayed there! It’s in the Nevada Hotel and Gambling Hall in Ely Nevada. When built (1929) it was the tallest hotel in the state. Nice place, clear and not expensive. Not a lot happening in Ely though check out the railroad museum.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Hawk - TV / iPad Mount

Like many of you, I'm not a big fan of those with 50" TV's in their RV's but there are times when it's cold or raining out and it's nice to sit inside a watch a movie. As the space is limited in a Hawk, I was wondering where people install / set up their TVs. I have set up a WiFi media server...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone using a hitch cargo carrier ?

I combined a Hitch Swing with a Harbor freight hitch rack. I welded it together to utilize a Thule T2 bike extender to hold two bikes at the back. In the end, it's not too heavy and holds: Fire Ring, BBQ, High Lift, Shovel, Fishing Rods, 2 Bikes and the Ammo cans hold various things I don't...
