RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Deadbolt recall notice

My unit was among the recalled locks. I made a claim within the first few days and have not received a replacement or any response at all from the manufacturer.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Price List 1977

My sister-in-law sent me a FWC price list from back in 1977. At the time, my parents had a FWC on a Chevy Blazer and brother and sister-in-law were thinking of getting one for their pickup. They decided to pass because the prices were too high. Too bad my 2010 Grandby didn't cost $1995!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Discussion - Phoenix Design Comparison

I had a fully equipped Phoenix on a 2003 Nissan Frontier for almost seven years. The first year, I made the commitment to get out every weekend for the full year. I also made three two week trips in the same year. Over the next six years, I spent many, many nights in that camper before...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Phoenix?

I owned a Phoenix for 8 years. It was a solid and dependable camper but I sold it to move up to a full sized pick-up and a FWC Grandby. In 2 1/2 years with the FWC, I've had more problems and issues with the Grandby than I ever had with the Phoenix. The roof supports system is plenty strong...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 (not very smart) ladies take a trip to Saline Valley

I'm just wondering if there isn't a problem with terminology in this discussion. A GPS is a receiver that locates a point on the earth's surface. It generally comes with some sort of map so you have an idea where that point is in relation to the general topography, roads, towns, etc. It...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water flow problems

Here's an update: The problem was caused by debris from the tank getting into the pump diaphram. After the RV place figured that out, they cleaned it up and I had them install a filter ahead of the pump to avoid future occurances. I will also look into an inline filter for the hose as a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water flow problems

Thanks KZMDL for the suggestions. I disconnected the pump inlet side hose from the pump and had my 87 year old mother (!!!) watch the outflow as I overfilled the water tank. The water flows freely from the line until the level got down so I'm suspecting that there is no obstruction in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Water flow problems

So here’s my problem. About a month (Jan 2011) after getting my new FWC Grandby (delivered Dec 2010), the water pump started to get really loud when it pumped water. I called Terry at FWC and asked what could be wrong. He said he would talk to the owner and get back to me about the problem...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camp Chairs

For a low budget choice try the Northwest Terratories Big Boy chair from K-Mart. I've used one for 6 years and just bought a second a few weeks ago. They are sturdy, roomy and they cost about $20.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Las Vegas to Phoenix then Phoenix to Fredericksburg, Tx

Congratulations on the new camper. You might consider camping near Wickiup, AZ on Hiway 93 between Kingman and Wickenburg. About 7 miles past Wickiup, you can turn right on the Signal Road and head down into the Big Sandy River and the old mining camp of Signal for some Sonoran desert camping...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Maiden Voyage

The Burro Creek Crossing was worth the stress as I found the creek upstream to be deserted and picture perfect. Who knew the AZ desert would have such great autumn foliage photo ops!! I beat it out of there for the night and the next day made my last night's stop back near Wickenburg along...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Maiden Voyage

Another perfect morning found me making the Big Sandy Crossing and a quick trip into the old mine camp of Signal. I wandered up into the hills and found a pretty camp overlooking a sandy wash for the night. The next morning, I went back up the Big Sandy and made a fuel stop in Wikiup, AZ. I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another Maiden Voyage

I wasted no time after mounting the new FWC Grandby in Flagstaff and two days later, I headed out into western Arizona for a little R&R. The weather was ideal as I headed west out of Wickenburg along the Joshua Tree Parkway. I cut off onto the 17 Mile Road and found a quiet spot for a couple of...

So, it was a long day that started at 5 AM when I left Phoenix for a 2 hour drive to Flagstaff but the new baby is finally home tonight! The install went down in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 9 AM this morning. It was sunny but the wind was blowing and it was about 40 degrees. Brrrr! The Four...
