RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1983 Jayco Sportster 7 rebuild

We’ll the bitter sweet day has come. The new Juno has arrived and it’s time to let the old Jayco move on to a new home. Would love to see it go to someone on here that would do her justice. Let me know if anyone is interested.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter or Hallmark - help me decide!

Well here she is! Went with a lot of new options like the microwave, 350W of solar and two renege lithium batteries, picked it up last friday and first trip is this weekend. And of course I can’t get a photo to upload..

That's great advice. Having totally gutted and rebuilt our current Jayco I know just how much easier it is to add stuff when starting from scratch! I'm not sure how much longer I have until options need to be set, but I think I've got a few months. The ladder and Yakima tracks are one of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter or Hallmark - help me decide!

My thoughts exactly. Kind of hard to believe there could be a cost associated. I feel like most of their items are fairly priced except for that and adding an extra solar panel. I'm at a point where I want to get it turn key and ready to roll off the lot, but at the same time $775 to install...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter or Hallmark - help me decide!

Definitely. I've only built it on their website configurator about 1,000 times at this point. Right now the one custom item I'm hoping to get added is a 2in receiver on the rear for a swing away bike rack. Otherwise, going to add the microwave, hopefully get big solar wiring so I can add...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1983 Jayco Sportster 7 rebuild

Thanks! I'm not sure about the canvas, though they've been around for 60 years, so hopefully that won't change. I was very impressed with the new ownership (the CEO has worked with some really cool products and seems to be all in on Outfitter). I'm very lucky to have a wife that loves...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1983 Jayco Sportster 7 rebuild

Yeah! it's probably actually setup for more than 4 people. The cabover bed is north south and a queen size, then there is a convertible dinette, there is a "hide-a-bed" pull out that pulls a single bunk out over the dinette, and then the real coolest feature of the camper is the fold out rear...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1983 Jayco Sportster 7 rebuild

Well we just put a deposit down on a new outfitter Juno 8.5 today. To say I’m excited is an understatement! Will probably start a new thread as we move along. The jayco has been awesome but we’ve just outgrown it…

We’ll we did it, pulled the trigger and put a deposit on a Juno 8.5. Build date should be late next spring, can’t wait! Will certainly post tons of updates as the process moves along.

Toured outfitter today was really impressed. Going to order as soon as I decide which model. Leaning heavily toward a heavily optioned caribou 8.

Hoping to do this in the next couple of weeks. They’re about an hour and a half from me. The bummer I found out about Hallmark is we’d be looking at a 14-18 month build time…I don’t think I’m that patient!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter RV Juno

My new truck has rear coils, so it’s Timbrens or airbags. There are a few “HD coils” out there but I don’t want to compromise empty ride since it’s my only vehicle. A single wheel identically built 3500 just has leaves vs the coils and a 3,820lb payload, so I’m comfortable adding bags or...

Thank you for this feedback! I’m surprised to hear that about the casette toilet. We have loved our Jayco and had a lot of great adventures in it, it’s just too small for 4 people and a dog. The cab over bed is not quite a double and is east west. I’m 6’3 so it’s not a lot of extra room to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter or Hallmark - help me decide!

Finally has come time to move on from our beloved Jayco sportster 7 and upgrade to something bigger and newer. Have a young son and another on the way, so main thing we’re after is more/better sleeping space. Where narrowed it down to either an Outfitter or Hallmark. Want some experience...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter RV Juno

I’m assuming that was with a single rear wheel truck? How did it handle on the highway? I know they’re still shorter than the hard sided campers you see all the time, but still a substantial height increase over the Caribou when closed. My payload is 2,172 which I’m not all that concerned...

The Juno 8 page says: COMPATIBLE TRUCK MODELS FULL-SIZE 3/4 & 1 TON SHORT BED TRUCKS (CHEV/GMC 2500/3500, FORD F-250/F-350, RAM 2500/3500, ETC)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Outfitter RV Juno

Anyone have experience with one of these? After our first trip with our son sleeping between us and punching us in the face all night and another on the way, we’re looking at upgrades. The Juno with the fold out rear tent room might be the best thing I’ve ever seen. But dang it’s pretty...

Haven’t updated this in a long time because unfortunately haven’t camped since that last elk trip! The good news’s is it’s because my son was born in Feb ‘21 and he’s got a little brother on the way this coming January. Also good news is we took him out for his first camping trip this weekend-...

Good luck! Hope you put More meat on the freezer than I did. Growing up in Kentucky I hunted white tails religiously but I’m still a novice elk hunter. Every season is a learning lesson though! I found the most important thing hands down in being in great cardio shape.

Hit my 24th night in the camper this weekend with my late rifle elk hunt. Buddy and I spent 4 nights in northwest Colorado chasing the wapiti. Unfortuneately we ate tag soup, but we had a great time and saw some beautiful country. Overall it didn’t get that cold at night except the last night...

It’s gotta be hard not to pull the trigger on a new one if you’re importing them now. Those are so nice! Then again you did a great job on yours during the remodel.
