OK and SORRY but another question for those of you experienced with Yellowstone or just bear country. I see on the map I have that some campsites are labeled HARDSIDE CAMPERS ONLY. May I assume that our FWC's may fit this bill? I don't really plan on these areas to camp but may not have a choice.

If I remember correctly mine has a receiver type box just screwed onto the bed. The box has the cable from the front routed through a factory hole with boot. That said it may just come up over the bed rail between bed and cab??? The power from the camper is just a factory cable and plugs into...

I hope he has them... is the Hawk in his truck? I take mine off when in truck and I would assume most do. I would contact FWC but I also can't imagine they would build one without the mounts? That said I am sure you can buy replacements.

Yes, ditto what Kodachrome says as it makes perfect sense. ESPECIALLY the reluctance of using a spotter. I'm pretty experienced offroad and always feel safer with a spotter (that I trust) ;)

^ I agree I'd be more worried about losing traction and sliding sideways. DITTO on the 4x4 training that and experience will help a lot to make you more comfortable.

Not in expensive but I like my hitch rack mounted to my rakattach. This video is not me but you get the idea... looks like it would be out enough for your curve? I also sometime use a hitch rack basket for extra gear or firewood.

When I purchased mine. I was told to fasten latch on catch and adjust pull until it is 90 degrees when first starts feeling pull. Then you can pull rest of way to fasten tight. Maybe hard to envision but seems to work for me.
