RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ladder or step?

We tried a variety of steps including a short plastic step which we still use when the camper is at home for quick access, hitch receiver 2-step and finally this Little Giant 3-Step with the supports removed by cutting them off. Fairly light for how sturdy it is. The steps are so solid, that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2018 Grandby Shell on Ram Regular Cab

I am not aware of any direct connect fittings. I just place a reinforced water hose from the little 12v pump and into the opening of the aquatainer. I don't fill it quite all the way to the top and after a half dozen trips I haven't had any water splash out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adding solar to "pre-wired" camper.

On a side note but somewhat related.......I had some questions about my Overland Solar controller that I knew Overland could answer. They suggested possibly pulling power to the controller to help me troubleshoot but I first wanted to talk to FWC and find out what settings they input into the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Renogy Flexible Panel

The panel is very lite and is easy to move around. We only use it to supplement our two 100 watt permanent units on the roof when we don't have full sun.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New Renogy Flexible Panel

We bought the 100watt about a month ago and used it twice. Very happy with it. We did notice that it is tough to find a good spot to carry it inside our camper. If it isn't kept perfectly flat, it tends to warp easily. We usually put it behind our roll-over couch but have to make sure...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Coffee maker?

A bit off topic but still related. Years ago out at the infamous Song Dog Ranch in New Cuyama Ca., my dad was with his usual group of motorcycle friends out camping on the mesa. There was a motorcycle rally (think non Harley) going on that weekend. Some of pops friends had heard about his...

Quote: Over the years they have gotten bigger. This will be our second year in Ocotillo Wells, an off road place where we can get our four wheel drive trucks dirty. Yeah..... --------- Thank you Jim for the update and for all your volunteering. The last time I was at Ocotillo Wells was in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using 2nd SAE port for additional power

Love your Yet'ee setup. After much thought, for now, I will add a 3rd flexible panel to the camper for when we are in one spot for an extended period of time and with limited sun. It will plug into the rear SAE port on the back of the camper on occasion. Our top panels use the SAE on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using 2nd SAE port for additional power

I would only connect to the SAE port when needed which would be on a rare occasion. It would make more sense to just wire more batteries in parallel. I was just trying to get a bit more juice for the fridge on those extended trips without hookups. Yes, the battery would be charged at home and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using 2nd SAE port for additional power

Thank you Vic. On one hand that is what I thought it would look like to the controller and it would use the energy to charge the existing batteries. The more I thought about it though, I think the solar panels might draw the current to. I found that out when playing with a small 5w solar...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Using 2nd SAE port for additional power

Is there any reason why this might not work? Camper has two solar panels on the roof and an Overland MPPT controller for two AGM 12v batteries. Is it possible to cable an additional AGM 12v battery to the outside SAE Solar port on the rear of the camper to provide additional power to the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advice needed; Charge Controller

Thank you Paul. I think that is probably a wise decision. I will check the dimensions of the NOCO 15 amp unit and see if I might fit one in the battery box. I know the 30 amp unit is to large though. Whoa, just checked the dimension of it. It is 4 13/16" wide and my install spot in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advice needed; Charge Controller

I was just getting ready to ask a similar question. We have a Grandby Shell model and space is super tight in the battery box which on ours is adjacent to the outside entry propane box. I would like to install a IOTA DLS-30 charger in the battery box but checking the dimensions, it will not...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Managing your solar power--"shaded areas"

As always, Vic has some great insight and knowledge. We are in about the same boat as you Brad. I am finding two days in the shade and my two 12V AGM batteries are at around 12.4 on the 3rd morning. We power a ARB fridge and a fantastic fan. Our float is set at 13.8v from two 100 watt...
