RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Baja Trip report (partial); update on crossing into Baja and fuel (diesel, etc.)

This is so helpful! Thank you! I am headed down there on Apr 1st. Planning basically the same route: Mexicali - San Felipe - Beluga - Guerrero Negro - San Ignacio - Concepcion. Might hit Los Angeles on the way back up north. I do have one question... toilets. Do we need to carry a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A couple newb questions on buying used

Hey Hausa, 1) You are correct. Trailers are not cheap. Maybe you could borrow one from FWC if you live nearby? 2) Use the website, or call them. The Four Wheel Campers customer service is really good. 3) You'll probably want FWC to do this for you. Drilling holes in the truck is not...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West installing roof rack slider's on a 2011 FWC Fleet?

Jeff, Send me an email (rilcombs@gmail.com). I have an email from FWC with instructions w/ photos. I did this last year. It's pretty straight forward. Riley

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tacoma/Fleet vs Ford150/Hawk

Hey John, I went through the exact same predicament early this year. The decision maker for me ended up being the size of the Tacoma (I'm 6'5") not the size of the camper. What I later learned is my wife and I would have had to sleep North-South in a Fleet, while we're able to sleep East-West...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Current fridge options

Oregonsurfer, I built a little slide out for my Engel MR040 so it can go where the stock fridge would be. Works really well if you want to continue using your top loader. Riley

Hi Guys, I have the struts, and know that I need the offset mounting brackets from Suspa... but what size/type of screws did you use? I can't find this info anywhere, and don't want to destroy my camper! Thanks so much, Riley '14 Raven

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

Here is the finished product! Thank you to everyone here, super helpful!! It worked swimmingly over Sasquatch Music Festival at the Gorge. It didn't fly off in the Gorge, and we had a full battery at all times. Riley Sent from my iPhone using Wander The West

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof lift gas struts

I see a lot of information on the struts, but can anyone direct me to the necessary hardware? I see the JR Products 10mm mounting brackets on Amazon, but are these even the right ones? How about screws etc etc? I have a '14 Raven. Thanks!!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

PokyBro, To wrap this up using input from Stan and the Service Dept, along with DesertDave: 1) drill up from the inside through the wood batton strip, a very very small pilot hole so you can get the first & last starter holes, and then just used wood filler to fill the hole. 2) lay down a...

Hey Poky, I'm also interested in the length/type of screw (if it's different than those provided by Yakima). Good question!

Stan - that is amazingly helpful. Thanks so much! You guys really do go above and beyond most manufacturers, so that's really cool. I talked to Jeff again, and we're going to meet up and make a decision. Thanks all!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

AK, Wallowa, and ski3 - Thank you! I now have a pretty good idea about how to go about this thing. Going to talk to Jeff to get his opinion as well. It doesn't sound very difficult, but man I would hate to screw this up!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

northshorehenry - I am not. I'll reach out to the guys in Tigard. I was really hoping to avoid the steep install costs, but it's looking like I may have to go that route. WS - Will do. I know where the wiring is terminated, the main issue is the drilling into the rooftop. Rack Attack just...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Panel / Yakima Tracks

Hi All, I picked up a 2014 Raven in February that does not have the Yakima Tracks installed on the roof. I just bought a Renogy 100W panel along with some Yakima Tracks and planned to have Rack Attack install the tracks, to which the panel would be mounted (the wiring is already there). After...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Buying used Hawk - please help us pack for first trip!

If you have access to two power drills, bring them both. It's a lot easier to raise/lower the camper off/on if you do it front to back (or back to front I suppose), rather than one corner at a time! Enjoy!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally took the LEAP

I have a '16 Tundra CM TRD OR. I added airbags along with a 2" lift in the front so it's level. I've had it for a few months, and it's been a fantastic switch from my VW Westfalia!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally took the LEAP

Hey Chris, I'm not sure how much grip your Line-X will provide, but I got a Dee Zee Heavyweight Bed Mat, and definitely recommend it to prevent the camper from sliding. I also have a Raven. Riley

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What options are recommended for new Fleet shell owner?

Oh, I just picked up the Engle from a friend who wasn't using it. Correct, that is the fridge space. The guy I bought it from didn't buy the fridge. Still not sure if this will be the best way to go, but it's definitely a lot cheaper than buying a new fridge!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What options are recommended for new Fleet shell owner?

I built a heavy duty slide-out for our Engel MR040 (got it cheap), because the camper didn't come with the fridge. It's working really well so far!
