RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Converting to 6v Batteries? Can i keep the 12s too?

My wife uses a 12V adapter for her CPAP and our Fleet setup* handles it well as long as we don't have too many cloudy days in a row. We recently added a small folding 50W portable solar panel to provide a little more juice to the batteries. It is too early to tell how much that helps. I don't...

My number one suggestion is to use the shuttle on the Going to the Sun Road whenever possible.

That area is not exactly known for good fishing due to serious mining impacts on streams.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing an inefficient Zamp solar kit with a Overland kit

We have the same FWC Fleet with the same solar system, batteries and refrigerator set up and are happy with its performance. It does what we expected it to do.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Winter -- Wow!

Given the years of decreasing snowpack in the west this is certainly a welcome change. Let's enjoy it. However, we should not assume the "drought" is over. Climate change projections are not that encouraging.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing an inefficient Zamp solar kit with a Overland kit

Seems like your cheapest solution would be to find some place to plug into shore power during the day (to top off the batteries) while you're working.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof popping problem

We have not (at least not that we could hear) experienced any "oil-canning" on our 2017 Fleet. We also have the factory installed 160 watt solar panel on the roof without any wind deflector. Perhaps we just haven't had the right wind conditions.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West When do you think I’ll be able to get my Geezer Pass?

It probably will not be back up until Monday at the earliest. Monday is the next regular work day for most folks.

We have a Fleet with the side dinette option. Two persons and the dog on the floor. That is it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper off truck! Whoa! Storage questions!

Last winter was the first we had our 2017 FWC Fleet. I had intended to take it off the truck for the winter but that never happen. We used the camper in Utah as early as February. In any case I didn't do much of anything other than winterize the water system, remove snow off the roof and...

The injured skier is fortunate. Not many areas have rescue helicopters with hoist or short haul capabilities suitable for this situation.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to FWC

We have a 2017 Fleet with the side dinette. We also have 6-65 pound lab mix dog. At first the dog was not interested in getting in the camper but eventually came around. Now we sleep in the upper berth and she sleeps on the floor under the dinette. It is somewhat awkward but it can work.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How waterproof, ice-proof, snow-proof is the FWC?

We have had our 2017 Fleet one year and just one relatively dry winter here in SW Colorado. We have two roof vents and a solar panel on the roof. It is left on the truck outside. I depend upon the solar panel to keep the camper batteries charged so I keep the snow off the roof as much as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Grand Adventure - Summer 2018

When we lived in eastern Idaho our trips to Yellowstone and Grand Teton in the spring, fall and occasionally even summer proved you can have an enjoyable experience with a little planning and patience. You just have to go into it with the right attitude and a willingness to share the experience...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The Grand Adventure - Summer 2018

Thanks for the trip report. I also have a copy of Patrick Trotter's book on Cutthroat trout and always thought any place with native cutthroat was a place worth visiting. We lived in Idaho for 20 years but never made it to Kelly Creek. May be next year.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fall Color Hwy 395

Lots of fall color in southwestern Colorado right now. Many people are saying its a bit early this year. Some are saying its likely to be short-lived. We're heading over to the Crested Butte area today to enjoy it how ever long it lasts.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Managing your solar power--"shaded areas"

We have almost the same FWC Fleet set up as the OP and I've been pretty impressed with its performance here in SW Colorado. On most trips we have at least 4-5 hours of direct sun on the 160 watt roof panel which seems enough to keep the Zamp controller voltage readings well above 12.2 even after...
