RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Awning Recommendations

We have a Batwing awning that came with the used Fleet FWC that we purchased last year. I haven't needed to use it most trips but it does provide a great deal of shade to the back and passenger side of the camper. Its pretty easy to set up and take down once you've done it a couple of times. On...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RFI - Bypassing SLC

I've detoured to the east using I-40, US-40, and Highway 189 through Heber City (Ogden to Provo) to avoid SLC traffic. It takes longer but was definitely better than the hour plus of bumper to bumper traffic I experience on my last trip down I-15.

Thanks for the trip report. You always pack in a lot of very useful information that I hope to soon apply on the ground.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Imogene Pass

Currently the San Juan National Forest is under Stage 3 fire restrictions which means closed to entry. However, the Uncompahgre National Forest (north of Red Mountain and Lizard Head passes) is under Stage 2 restrictions. Stage 2 means, among other things, no open fires even in developed...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Saline Valley SPA Position Paper

As someone who worked on public land management plans I would certainly agree that primary purpose of the National Environmental Policy Act's public involvement process is to gather information that may not already known by the agency. While it is true that the NEPA process is not about counting...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Central NM Spring Shakedown - April 2018

Its alarming how dry the vegetation looks, given that its spring time. Is it just early or a sign of the drought conditions?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Help with Family Trip - Colorado/Utah Loop

Just a reminder that as of May 1, all sites in the campground at Great Sand Dunes NP require reservations (Recreation.gov). There are some camping options nearby. The park website has information on those.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Small camper (fleet-swift) in a full size truck?

I've found the same thing as Bosque Bill. When cruise control is on, our 2013 V6 Tacoma will downshift to a much lower gear (at much higher rpm) than if I leave cruise control off. Of course I had been driving a 2003 2.7L Tacoma for 15 years and am use to taking my time on long steep grades.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Arctic liner

One of the nice things I noticed about the thermal liner on our first really cold night (15 degrees) was that the condensation of frost was behind the thermal fabric. You still need to make sure the camper interior dries out but its not right there on the wall.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What MODEL is your optimum 4 wheel pop-up size

My very initial impression is that two people in a Fleet can work but it takes some work to make it work. Specifically a willingness to down size the carry-on. I noticed a big difference even between the Hawk and Fleet in terms of space. Still its much better than our tent.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC not permitted at Washington State Park Tent sites

For the most part public campground policies regarding RV vs. tents, number of vehicles per site, etc are devised at the local level. That's why there are so many variations in the rules. In some cases limiting tent sites to those actually sleeping in tents is sensible. Some campgrounds have...
