RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West mounting extra brake lights on 1.5” struts, NO drilling.

Update: My question is - if I bolt into a pre-existing hole in the truck frame, (recent F-350) with a new, stainless steel bolt…. would the frames coating (anodized?) stop it from being a good ground? see pic of my attempt at grounding (below) I was advised to avoid drilling new holes into...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West mounting extra brake lights on 1.5” struts, NO drilling.

update - thanks Paul for the good idea...... Much appreciated. :-) So I like the idea of 3M VHB tape - 2 strips of 3/4” - to simply VHB tape the auxiliary brake lights to the *top* of the 1.5” strut… and the base of the brake lights are flat…. so this should work out well. It is cold...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West mounting extra brake lights on 1.5” struts, NO drilling.

Hi all. I have a weird little project on the go. For complex reasons I won’t bore you with ……. (don’t ask why I want to do this) ;-) ... I want to mount these 3” high x 8” wide light plastic trailer brake lights on these 1.5” truck camper tie down horizontal metal struts... down below the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F350 tire airing down ranges w/ truck camper

F350 tire airing down ranges w/ truck camper Hi all I’m doing research and getting opinions and info about airing down pressure ranges (I know it varies a lot depending on tire, load, rig, conditions, etc) We have a 4x4 F350 (2020) CrewCab with 8’ bed - single rear wheels (SRW) ….. plus a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West if hiding spare truck key IN cab of 2020 F350 - truck get confused?

Hi - I sometimes go camping alone, and the best place to hide a 2nd set of backup keys for our Ford F-350 2020 (Lariat, so it has the keypad for keyless entry) would be IN the cab of the truck somewhere. however i am concerned the truck would get confused, if there were one set of keys in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West next after Upper Stableloads? Jittery ride on rough pavement

Nope... i run the tires at what Ford suggests. I prefer to do this. and ... from how it feels when cornering on pavement, it does not feel, to me, that different tire pressure would make things any better. thanks though. :-)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West next after Upper Stableloads? Jittery ride on rough pavement

Incorrect. The camper has added a substantial amount of weight to the front axle. As I mentioned above: "The camper is always on.... and I believe it is pretty evenly loaded. (I should dig up the scale measurements... i recall it was pretty even front to back)

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West next after Upper Stableloads? Jittery ride on rough pavement

For reasons I can't go into.. I'm not able to change the shocks at the moment it is a 2020 F350 so shocks are new. The rear upper StableLoads went on when the camper did... and no need for me to remove them....as on good pavement the rig is pretty great.... so I have not driven it without...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West next after Upper Stableloads? Jittery ride on rough pavement

Update: the author of this review is Mellow Mike and he seems to really know Truck Campers. He was skeptical about front SumoSprings but read the review And how our rig feels I think it is worth the $200 to buy them on the front. . Really easy no drill install...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West next after Upper Stableloads? Jittery ride on rough pavement

Thanks The camper is always on.... and I believe it is pretty evenly loaded. (I should dig up the scale measurements... i recall it was pretty even front to back) Someone very knowledgeable suggested and recommended Sumo Springs.. I am thinking that SumoSprings on the *front* would help smooth...

Can I safely tow this loaded cargo trailer PLUS keep our camper in place? Pardon my ignorance but I want to do this safely and figure this out. I’m sure the wise people here can guide us. Yes, I’m aware that the door stickers “cargo” is referring to what is IN the truck, not including...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F350 where do I jack from? / would this plan work?

F350 where do I jack from? / would this plan work? Hi all - first truck, so learning as I go. So I don’t want to spend a ton of $ on a high end jack… I picked up this 6,000 lb capacity jack - Powerbuilt 620471 Unijack - (Rig weights 11,300 lbs loaded) The jack has a height range of 11...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Can I use 2 MaxTrax to drive up 9” (90 degree) vertical curb?

given how rough the dirt is there (and it is going onto a busy street, that is now one lane) i figured that throwing down MaxTrax would be faster to do, and faster to remove..... but perhaps I am just being chicken..... or maybe i am being a dumb chicken.... great idea Rando - simply : I put...

Can I use 2 MaxTrax to drive up 9” (90 degree) vertical curb? So I need to move my F350 (4x4) with camper on it, (total weight about 11,000 lbs) out of a driveway that is under construction, and there is a 9” lip blocking my way out. (see pics) I own one pair Max Trax (so 2 MaxTrax) Pardon...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Good 3rd party Truck Camper insurance?

Good 3rd party Truck Camper insurance? Hi all - I had initially had good insurance coverage on our new 2020 Hallmark fiberglass pop-up Truck Camper - then Progressive decided that unless we had our auto insurance with Progressive, they would not insure our Truck camper, as it is too valuable...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West this 20 ton bottle jack? this air compressor?
