RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West short mattress

I'm right there with ya. We have an 05 Eagle, currently have a Megamat Duo, wish we could use the stove without having to break down the bed, and trying to open up the useable space in the morning, especially since we have 2 dogs with us. I have been (casually) looking for something like what...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dropping FWC Top in Heavy Winds

If you have a roof top fan, turning it on and sucking the air out of the camper while dropping the top. If you don't have a fan, opening the vent helps a little, too, but not nearly as much. Of course, opening the door is always helpful, if you are able to do so. And again, if possible...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Eagle fit my 2002 GMC Sierra 1500?

I just ran out to measure mine. With a roughly 2" boost on the camper from the 2x4 + plywood combo, the bottom edge of the camper (over the bedrails) is exactly at 20" from the truck bed. So if the camper hasn't been previously boosted up, you'd definitely going to need to boost the camper up...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Eagle fit my 2002 GMC Sierra 1500?

Eagles are pretty narrow, so it should probably fit just about any truck, width-wise. However, they also don't have as much of a rise on the side rails, which means you may need to lift it. I'm guessing your truck being an 02, you might be OK, but the newer trucks have much deeper beds...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2011 FWC Eagle - picture of cabinet above rollover couch?

I have on 05 Eagle, and the cabinet above the rollover couch (towards the back) is just a dual slider. Not sure about what or how they mount to the camper itself. It *looks* like a direct mount to the wall, but never checked. Honestly, though, the similar style cabinet below the sink/stove is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk center point (weight)

It should be marked on the side of your camper, along the bottom edge of the camper (that is visible above the bed rails). Otherwise, it's pretty darn close to halfway.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk meets Hawk

That is a great story, glad the bird flew away. Good thing FWC didn't name their camper the Albatross... you never would have driven away from that!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Torklift tiedowns with Hawk/Tundra

I have an 03 Tundra that already had external (frame mounted) Torklift tie downs and Toklift fast guns from a previous camper we owned. When I bought my 05 Eagle last year, since I already had invested in the external tie downs, I chose not to install the internal tie downs. That being said...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to repair a roof crack?

Thanks for everyone's response. Fortunately... crisis averted! When I first caught a glimpse of the crack, we were out camping for my wife's birthday and didn't want to ruin the weekend with an roof issue, so I just slapped some tape up real quick in case it rained. Then, when we got home a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to repair a roof crack?

So, it looks like my 05 Eagle has developed a roof crack, about 6" long and very narrow, but I'd like advice on how to 1) repair it, 2) stop it from spreading, and 3) seal it from the elements. Pictures coming... As back-history, I added Yakima tracks and roof rack last year, and had a factory...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Eagle Tie downs on Tacoma + adding hydraulic lifts?

Yes, you can add struts. I have a 2005 Eagle with Yakima tracks/roof rack that I had a local dealer install 30# struts on front and rear. Adding them made a world of difference. We tried 40#, but it was actually pretty hard to drop the top with 40's. It's a pretty tight fit from the center...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Installing Rhino roof rack rails

I have 2005 Eagle and just went through this process this past summer. However, since I didn't feel comfortable doing the install myself, I had our regional FWC dealer do the work. So I just watched and asked a few questions along the way ;) They ended up pulling all the old screws where they...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk and eagle shell weights across years

I have an 05 Eagle with refrigerator, stove, & water tank and the weight on sticker is 690#, but I've never actually weighed it. No batteries, no solar, etc.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Tie Down Options

I have TorkLift external tie downs on my truck, but only because I had them installed for a previous camper. They work fine, but if I were you and starting from scratch, I definitely would go with the internal tie downs. Invest in the long-term solution, not the short-term solution that you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Propane Servicing

It's hard to tell from the angle of the photo, but I'm guessing that you should be able to 1) turn off gas from the propane tank with the valve and then 2) unscrew all of the plumbing contraption at the collar up near the valve stem. In your picture, the brass piece hidden behind the white...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fleet / Eagle

We recently purchased a 05 Eagle to put on an 03 Tundra. It is a really good fit front-to-back and aligns with be bed rails perfectly. However, you do lose about 6 inches total (3" per side) on the floor, because the camper floor width does not extend to the width of the truck bed. We have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Installing Yakima track system roof rack on older camper

Yes, I am working the FWC dealer for MT. If you look at the picture, with the older 2-piece roofs, they had to screw them in along multiple rafters. From what I've read (and confirmed by dealer) you have to remove the screws so that the tracks lie flat on the roof.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Installing Yakima track system roof rack on older camper

I've got a 2005 Eagle and would like to add a Yakima track roof rack system. Obviously the roof has been pre-drilled to install the roof, so that means we'd have to remove 8-10 screws per side, and then either plug the holes or (hopefully) re-use the holes where possible when installing the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wiring a Goal Zero battery to house lights?

I purchased a 2005 Eagle this spring that did not come pre-wired for a house battery, and (so far) I have not had the truck battery wired to connect to the camper umbilical. I checked with a semi-local vendor and they quoted me about $500-600 to purchase the AGM battery and do the other wiring...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wiring Question - Female Plug

I've got an 05 Eagle with the 2-wire Marineco female adapter. I just got the camper this spring and haven't got it hooked up, but it's just a black and white wire set.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Power Connection

I've been thinking about the same thing for a short-term fix just to get power to the camper until I can get the truck wired up properly. I just got an 05 Eagle, and the trolling motor connector that I have looks to be either a MinnKota or MarineCo ConnectoPro. It is a 3-wire connector, with...
