Well done. Yes the other option was shims, you figured that out and you would be fine with the washers or a plate for a shim. I just used 3/8 inch forged galvanized eyebolts. That is what I had on my Chevy before I got this truck and they are good.

Regular Guy. I bought the brackets because I was concerned about the aluminum bed. If you decide to install them don't worry about the hole location. Your dealer can just do what I did and drill through the brackets from underneath.

I had to offset the camper 1 inch to the right to make clearance for my pvc gray water tanks. It was was a very tight fit though with only 1/2 inch of space between the top of the truck box and the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ordered a new Truck, plan to upgrade to lithium before it arrives

I currently have a 2011 Chevy with a 2011 Hawk on the back that I bought used in 2014. Using what I learned following this forum I installed solar on the roof, a battery monitor, and 2 - 75 amp hour batteries. A couple years later i upgraded my wiring from the truck to 8ga and installed a Blue...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F150 2.7L payload package plus Hawk

I have researched and plan on ordering a supercab with a 6 1/2' box and the 2.7 ecoboost with the payload package to replace my rusting out 2011 chevy. I weighed my hawk with my truck fully loaded at the local feed mill last fall and it's 1600 lbs including the water. Ford says the payload...

I don't have any photos as my camper is put away for the winter but there is a very simple solution I found on this site a few years ago. On our campers there is a strip of the fuzzy velcro at the top edge of the soft side panels Buy some 1/2" wide velcro and use the hard side of the strip...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Global Solar 115W PowerFLEX+ BAPV Flexible CIGS Solar Panels

The flex panels were from Renogy and they have great customer service. I did get my money back and soon after they stopped selling the flexible solar panels. My understanding of it is that they fail because of the heat in a direct mount situation, an airspace underneath seems to prevent that but...

This is how I installed my 160 watt ridged panel in 2016 after my two 100 watt flex panels that were directly mounted failed the first summer. No holes in the roof to mount either and so far they are holding up fine. Most of my solar ideas came from reading everything I could on WTW so I am...

i have fastened lightweight panels to the roof without airspace underneath and they failed. They were covered under warranty but what a mess to get them off. I started with boards... then got rid of some of the boards and added the yellow stepped ramps from Camco. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What suspension upgrades do you have?

2011 Silverado extended cab 1500 with hawk. Added Timbrens, Hellwig rear sway bar, and recently replaced my worn out tires with load range E tires. Took a 4,000 mile trip in March and I feel much more comfortable with the way it handles now compared to when I started late in late 2014.
