RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West On the topic of wolves

Damn......I hope she stays in the park, if she moves out to the Kaibab forest she's a goner. I also know of a wolf being hit on Highway 89 north of Flagstaff a few years back, a migrant from the Mexican grey wolf releases in Eastern Arizona. I have had the pleasure of hearing a few of them howl...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wanted: 90's FWC Eagle, finch, Fleet or similar for Tacoma

What you really want is not an Eagle, but a Ranger II, twenty years old and in good shape. Frankly your budget might be a little low, but miracles do occur. It's just that by definition miracles occur infrequently, as if they were more common we would call them something else. A couple of tips...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

two comments on the above post: 1) That Phoenix in Cheyenne is a killer deal. 2) The photos of the Caribou Outfitter in Flagstaff were clearly taken in the valley. There are no palm trees in Flagstaff. Not saying its a scam, many people own homes in Phoenix and Flagstaff, just saying proceed...

@billharr Also check out: http://www.tosimplify.net/ http://mobilecodgers.blogspot.com/ http://occupation-of-independence.blogspot.com/ more examples of the "extreme early retirement" philosophy. If you cut your expenses to the bone (biggest being rent or mortgage), give up on the female (or...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

Boy that last one is an odd one....clearly not an FWC, lift system is all different. Also, never seen that three burner stove in an FWC. Overhead cab also looks deeper than an FWC. I am thinking maybe an early Phoenix or even maybe an Outfitter? At 1500 its a steal no matter what it is.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flex Solar Panels Anyone?

Wondering if anyone has installed these new thin solar panels and if they have an opinon. Advantages to a FWC/ATC owner seem obvious, particularly the weight, as we have to lift our roofs. Please ignore the fact that these newRV, trust fund hipster kids need a serious beating.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Buy FWC, Quit Jobs, Drive to Argentina

Congratulations on your decision to change your life and have some adventure! Another couple who went with a Phoenix pop up did the very same thing a couple years back...and I only put this out there as a word of caution, but they were violently attacked in a remote village in Peru. They did...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WTB: Pop up Truck camper for 6.5 bed

Ski3pin searches all of Craigslist for all the popup campers you mention, and posts here regularly. That is by far your best bet. Have cash on hand and be ready to pounce. Your "luck" in finding a camper will also have some geographic limitations. Older FWC's (70's, 80's, up to mid 90's) are...

Ebay, no reserve Hawk in Noth Carolina "needs some TLC". I have no connection to listing. Issues look relatively minor, needs new lino, some "abrasions" on the upper camper fabric. Could be a steal for the right person. Wasn't there a kid from Asheville who was desperate for a FWC recently? Its...

Here you go. Not sure you want a project, or if it will fit your truck, but you live in Colorado so there will be lots of these older FWC's popping up http://denver.craigslist.org/rvs/4437261758.html

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best lap top to take to take on our adventures?

I know this topic is closed, however, in case anyone comes along with similar question I would like to suggest a: Chromebook. For 200 bucks (sometimes less, sometimes a little more) you get a fast, capable machine that will do 98 percent of what the average user uses a computer for. Chrome (the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Best websites for finding Used FWC (besides here obviously)...

Used 2001 Eagle in Central California, just posted in Gear Exchange. 7000 George Washington Dollars. Honestly, there is no better place than here, unless you troll all of Craigslist yourself. Sometimes campers get posted on expeditionalportal.com before here, if the seller is a regular over...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1983 VW Camper - Should I Look Into It?

Please note everything above posters have said. I've never owned a VW so they are much better versed, but good friends of mine have and I've spent a significant amount of time in them. Some thoughts: If a vanagon is going for that cheap, there are problems. Rust or a crapped out engine. Tricked...

I'd buy Dirty Dogs Flatbed ATC. And then, a new Newcastle United home shirt. And then, a System 76 Gazelle Laptop. The rest would go in the bank, after taxes of course.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Who lives out of their camper?

This topic just happens to be a long term goal of mine. : ) "Lack of Toilet facilities" is really a non issue, unless you are the kind of person who absolutely has to flush five gallons of drinking water down the drain with your fecal matter. Piss in a yellow nalgene bottle, but draw a skull...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Like a FLIP PAC but better, geared out tent top shell, in Colorado

As others have said, not new. Clearly being sold by Rob Lowe of Phoenix Campers, who built it. I suspect that someone is trading it in, having realized its limitations. Rob is the son of Dave Lowe, who founded Four Wheel Campers. The design is innovative, primarily in that its streamilined and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New 2015 Chevy Colorado

I did not understand why light pickups like the Ranger were going out of fashion in the US until I learned about CAFE. Basically, light trucks fall in a giant black hole between the CAFE required environmental standards (which goes by emmisions vs length/weight of vehicle) of a car, and a larger...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New 2015 Chevy Colorado

The real trick with these new light diesel trucks will be to wait a few years until some gently used ones become available, then you can avoid the "drive it off the lot and have it instantly depreciate 30%" effect. Then, convert it to biodiesel or waste vegetable oil so you aren't paying the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Building Our New Camper

I love seeing how much care and attention goes into building an ATC, always wondered how the front of the cabover was bent/welded. I am sure the same care goes into building an FWC, but one can feel the good vibes that Jeff and Marty are puttin' in to your camper. Just think, you will have...

I am not speaking from first hand knowledge, but I think Phoenix build quality has improved in the last couple years. Mr Rowe is not working by himself anymore, he actually has a small team, and I have heard some good reports from satisfied recent customers. My issue with Phoenix: Price. A...
