RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Late August 2012

Lava Beds too damn hot in August I reckon. Unless you spend most of the day in the caves. Stick to the coast. How about Mattole Beach? Nat, you are right! I am fixing on Silver lake, next to June Lake, in August. I heard there is snow in Lassen right now (June 15, 2012). The coast was sold...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West More Breaker issues

Well, this is probably my own fault ... Before I modified the wiring for the refrigerator, the refrigerator was connected to the breaker box along with the camper charger. By moving the refrigerator power to the battery (bypass the fuse box), the camper charger connects to the refrigerator...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

Wow, Looks like a 4WC that has been rebuilt all the way around? Maybe a very early short bed model that has been re-done from top to bottom? Maybe a 4WC cousin? I am going to guess not OEM? Who knows. Roger

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Quick question, what is this?

Still, they're a lot more accurate than the predictions of economists and other financial experts... Of course...that also means that my retirement savings have to last longer... Real economists don't make forecasts or predictions they report facts. Economic forecasters are making guesses...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Platform?

Sheet of 2" foam. Or Some 2x4's flat on their sides with a sheet of 1/2" plywood on top. Etc. Lots of ways to skin that cat. Just some advise: 1. Make it 4 inches wider on either side to give you a nice landing zone. Don't make it "just fit." You are not building a piano. Conversely...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack Brackets

So I inspected the inside of the screw hole and noticed that another screw was intersecting the path of the broken jack bracket screw. I spoke with Terry at FWC too. The take away is that the broken screw was probably sawed in half by the interior trim screw. The loose screws (actually I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally, Here It Is!

The truck has other responsibilities but I'll leave it on for a couple more days just to enjoy the view. In fact, I think I'll take my morning coffee out there tomorrow. Maybe do a bit more dreaming. I camped out in my FWC the first night I brought her home. The kids joined me for breakfast...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack Brackets

They were ''finger'' loose by half a turn! :o Maybe they were never torqued in at the factory? I think they are self tapping screws so that is why I just finger tightened them. I didn't want to strip out the aluminum framing they are attached to. I am going to call FWC soon and see if...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack Brackets

Interesting. What part of the screw broke? It was the bottom screw on the outside the bracket. I only noticed it because it was a bit skewed to the rest. I used my fingers to unscrew it and it was broken off at about 1.25 inches in, just snapped off. I went over the rest of them and finger...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack Brackets

I found a broken screw in my jack bracket when installing my camper for the summer/winter season. I noticed that most of the other jack bracket screws were a bit loose and or backing out too. I hand tightened them back in but I am thinking this may be a safety issue. My camper is a 2010...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tucki Mine road, Death Valley?

I didn't see any posts on Tucki mine up Telephone Canyon in Death valley on this site. Looking at some google searches it looks like there is an overhang: http://www.ubehebe.com/tucki_mine.htm Has anyone ran this route? NPS grades it as a 4wd, but not too bad. Most sites rate it as 2 or 3 of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Suspension Question

Over the years we have tried a several different things for rear suspension upgrades. ... Hellwig Over-Load Springs ... In the end it boils down to personal preference ... The SuperSprings have been bomb proof, excellent, and NEVER gave us any problems that I can remember. Or if you want...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Death Valley Summer

Well, the kids have decided that Death Valley is not that bad since they want to go back for our July trip. Last year it was only 115 in the valley but a bit cooler in the higher elevations. I posted my Q and A from last year in this thread, thanks STEW...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rebuilding a Granby

Impressive as heck, especially considering how long you've been at it. So it seems the welds breaking are a design flaw, not a guy welding your camper up at 4:30 on a friday afteroon. I am not a welding guy and I've followed this thread closely, why would you say they are a design flaw? Looks...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Random FWC Photos

As a fellow Tundra owner, congrats. I'm sure both the camper and truck will see lots of happy miles. Any idea of what the camper does to your mileage? I'll be heading west in the next few weeks to pick up my new Grandby and I'm curious what the effect the camper is going to have. I really don't...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear door locks freezing in winter conditions

I keep a small bottle of WD40 in the LPG area for just such an occasion. I've had problems with the LPG, 'Fridge and water access panels freezing shut in cold weather too, so I just leave them open in cold weather. No problem so far... Roger

Lighthawk, Honestly I don't want to sell, but I have to. I just hope who ever buys this truck takes as good as care of it as I and my dad did. By the way the payload of a 2012 long bed double cab is the same as this T100... 1680 lbs... My salesman was not amused. Carry on. roger Nice...
