RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wire gauge for Change from 12v to 6v Batteries in 2013 Hawk

After talking with Lifeline and Iota today I'm having concerns the stock Iota DLS-30 will do a good job of charging my new 6 volt AGMs. The charge profile of the Iota converter/charger is higher at both bulk and float according to the recommendations by Lifeline. Even with any of the various...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wire gauge for Change from 12v to 6v Batteries in 2013 Hawk

Just went and took a look at what the wire gauge is. It looks like nearly all of it is 8 gauge, except for the black wire that goes from the battery in the upper part of the photo to the shunt in the lower right of the photo is 6 gauge. I think I'm going to get the new batteries set in place...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wire gauge for Change from 12v to 6v Batteries in 2013 Hawk

Thanks for the info Stokeme. The pict I provided is the old 12 volt setup. Like you mentioned, I was thinking of upsizing the battery interconnect cable to a 10 inch to 12 inch section of 4 or 2 gauge, but I'm not sure if it's even needed. I'm going to go out right now and see if I can...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wire gauge for Change from 12v to 6v Batteries in 2013 Hawk

I'm replacing my original FWC-supplied Exide dual 12 volt group 24 AGM batteries that came with our camper in 2013 with two Lifeline 6 volt AGM batteries (220 ah). Is there a need to upgrade the original wiring in the battery compartment to a larger gauge? I believe it is currently 6 gauge...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rollover accident - Lessons Learned in a FWC / Ranger Combination

I just got back from a NM hunting trip with my camper. Had a few crosswind incidents, but noting bad. I'm guessing the 9,800 lbs weight of my truck/camper combo helps with keeping me in my lane. You guys are lucky to be alive. Yesterday westbound on I-40 there was an accident and as I pass...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wilco Tiregate *SOLD*

SOLD - I have a Wilco Tiregate that I can't use any longer. It worked great to hold the 2nd spare for my Ram 2500 and two 6 gallon VP fuel cans. I have the straps that hold the fuel cans down too. VP fuel cans not shown in the pictures. I paid close to $1,000 for it, but asking $400 (firm).

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Getting a Hawk home

My 2013 Hawk has been on both my 2005 Dodge 2500 and now my 2018 Ram 2500 and on both trucks it is about 2-3 inches too long. I have a Wilco Tiregate and have trouble using it with my Ram/Hawk combo. I'm thinking of grinding the front bumpers around 3/4" to see if that will give me just enough...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Getting a Hawk home

I just bought a 2018 Ram 2500 and ended up also getting the jack extension brackets. It was only clearing my stock fender flares by what seemed like millimeters.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacement refrigerator for '05 Hawk recommendations

I have an Isotherm and I'm not only impressed with the refrig unit but also their customer service. They were a ton of help in planning my purchase. Parts are also easy to get here: http://www.isotherm-parts.com/.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West tire choices ?

I've found the GY Duratracs the best tire I've ever ran. As soon as the stock OEM tires on my Ram 2500 wear out I'll be back to the Duratracs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Swift transplant to Powerstroke F-150 complete

I'm on my 3rd 3/4 ton diesel (over 313k mi total) and I'll never go back to a gasser. DEF is also never an issue...at all, and there is no "increased maintenance." My new 2018 Ram has 15k mi oil change intervals!!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West back bumper

I have a Wilco Hitchgate and I love it. The only con is the weight. If I have a spare tire for my Ram 2500 and two-6 gallon containers of fuel it's quite heavy. Still fine for my truck, but I think it'd be too much for a Tundra with a FWC in the bed.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Install on 2018 Ram 2500

deezlgeezr, Thanks for the photo. Any chance you could take a pict of the other three mounting locations from under the truck. The one you provided is really helpful, but last night I was looking at the other locations and there's a couple of options on where to place the eyebolt plate...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Hawk Install on 2018 Ram 2500

I'm about to start the install of my 2013 Hawk onto my new 2018 Ram 2500. Is there anyone out there with a factory installed Hawk on a 2014 - 2018 Ram 2500 that wouldn't mind snapping a couple of picts for me? Specifically, I'd like to see the bottom of the eyebolt (nut) under the truck on the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing an inefficient Zamp solar kit with a Overland kit

Personally I think you have an issue/defect somewhere in the system and I don't think it's the design of the system. Something isn't working like it should be. I can run my refrig all night at a setting of 5 and still wake up with 85% of capacity remaining. If you're ever down in the SLO area...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Replacing an inefficient Zamp solar kit with a Overland kit

Rogue Juan, I'll say it again. You and I have nearly the exact same system, including the 2-way refrig. Main difference is that I did my own solar and refrig install though once I got home. FWC did not do it on the original build. With that said, my system has worked flawlessly. However...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Ordered, But Which Truck to get?

IMO I'd spend $5k to $8k more and get a 3/4 ton with a diesel that will have way more power and provide better mileage when under load.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Ordered, But Which Truck to get?

I love negotiating on new truck purchases. The 2018 Ram 2500 I bought in October had a sticker of $63,185, but I negotiated it down to $53,000 even. Not the deal of the century, but it was exactly the truck I wanted so I was happy.
