RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pulling the BMS sensor on late model Ford trucks to improve charging.

Played around a little today with the battery charging to the Deka Gel battery in my ATC from my 2020 F150. With the BMS (battery management sensor) plug attached I was getting only about 2A into the camper battery at 13.2 V. Unplugged the sensor and I was getting 10A at 14.7 volts- quite an...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Truck and/or Camper Registration, Title, Fees, Taxes, Insurance, Etc.

One of the big pluses to a truck camper to me is- no property tax on them in my home state of SC. My 2018 Camplite 16TBS travel trailer costs me around $1200 a year property tax just to own it. It cost about the same as a mid level pop up truck camper originally.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West You know you're a geezer when.......................

I'm in SC, no not southern california. The blue laws were a big pain- most are gone now, I remember going in a grocery store, near Columbia, SC on a Sunday circa 1969. Picked up a 1/2 gallon of ice cream and a scoop. Got to the register and was informed I could buy the ice cream but not the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Front sliding window no longer an option at ATC

I received an email from ATC- the company that made the windows was bought by another company that then stopped production on the front slider windows. Since I could not get the original seal I just placed an adhesive foam gasket on the fixed portion to stop insects from getting by the screen.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping Tips if You Have a Pet?

How long will it run on the remote starter? My 2020 F150 times out in 15mins IIRC and you can hit it once more for another 15 but that is it, again, IIRC. Never had remote start in any of the vehicles I built a system for. 96 F350 11 FJCruiser 15 and 18 Transit Haven't yet made one for the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping Tips if You Have a Pet?

The problem is every particular vehicle model is different- no one design works. There are companies that make something like what I described mainly for Police vehicles- might try to search for them and see what they have.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping Tips if You Have a Pet?

As for leaving dogs in the vehicle- I've built systems to leave the vehicle running, AC on, doors locked, windows up and vehicle cannot be driven, no key in it, shifter is locked, steering is locked. I also monitor audio from the vehicle interior via 2 way radio. Even have a thermometer with a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Front sliding window no longer an option at ATC

Does anyone know what brand front slider ATC used on 2018 campers? Don't see a name on it and need to find a replacement seal for the screen on the driver side.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Happijac turnbuckle information

Interesting- I have a set of HappiJac's - probably had them 25+ years. I knew the long front ones had a spring in them and knew the rear short ones had rubber but never knew how the rubber functioned- I had assumed it was just a piece of rubber tubing with the hook portion compressing it when...

New to me 2018 ATC Panther.....picked up in Phoenix 2000mi from home in SC. Took the Aliner to have a place to sleep during the 3 days on the road going out. Slept in ATC on way back home :) Maybe would have explored a few days but that unexpected snow starting the 12th kind of killed that...

Thank you for the reply! I did get ahold of ATC later in the day and got the specs for where the tie downs go. I was going to delete this thread after obtaining the info and before any replies but was unable to do so. What a whirlwind day getting everything ready to head west to pick up the...

Sorry to post this- I know I can call ATC but they don't open for several hours. Bought a 2018 ATC Panther. Need to hit the road on a 2000 mi trip to AZ from SC to pick it up. I'd really like to complete the tiedown eyes install before I leave. I have the necessary materials to put in the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Aliner Truck Cabin **SOLD**

I bet if they built them now they'd sell quite well with all the wait times for anything else. I've owned a couple of Aliner trailers and currently have one in my camper fleet.

Not defending it but if you add up the options he has and then add CA sales tax it is not much over what he paid. AND someone gets to skip the year wait.

When I bought my new Grandby shell back in 1999 they gave me the drawings of the framing. BUT- when I started working on my low key simple build-out it was obvious they were not correct.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pass-Through Between Camper and Truck

I had one years ago (mid 70's) that was basically a cylinder open on both ends made of something like naugahyde. At each end a springy steel hoop was sewn in the hem. You'd kind of squash one of the springy steel hoops and stick it through both openings from one side, keeping the other hoop on...
