RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where does your dog(s) ride?

Sadly my big dog passed on a few weeks ago but he loved to ride in the camper with his head through the sliding cab window. Sorry to hear that... what a beautiful dog!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Congratulations are in order!

Nope... no trading in the Jetta. The Jetta gets used purely for business. I love being reimbursed for mileage when my vehicle gets 40 MPG. :thumb: I'm a business consultant for an optical company so I spend most of my time out seeing our clients. I got the car when I started this position...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where does your dog(s) ride?

Our dog rides in the extended cab portion of the truck... though that might change with the little one on the way. We'll have to see how all that works out. Kyle

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Turnbuckles

Yep, they do... Most people seem to use them as is and just check them periodically to see if they loosen up. Some have double nutted them or put wire through them etc. to keep them from spinning loose. There is a thread on here somewhere that discusses the different tricks people have come...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extended Bed Conversion?

yer gonna have to replace the roof... Yep, I figured that... replace or modify. I'm not sure which is easier. Obviously, the underside of the bed and the pop up "canvas" would need to modified or replaced as well. I think lifting the roof in the rear would be a non issue and one could...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Extended Bed Conversion?

Something that came up in discussion at the Pop up Bowl is the concept of converting the standard cab over bed to an extended bed. Is this something that is feasible to do? Perhaps a good time to do this would be when the "canvas" needs to be replaced anyway. How about a SUPER extended bed...

I didn't take too many pictures, but here is what I have. We'll have to wait for Capt Coors to post... I think he's got all the good shots. Here are a few pics from my hike Sunday morning.

Alice and I are still planning on being there. We haven't decided yet on whether we are heading up Friday or Saturday though. Jay, what are you and Pam doing? Randy and Linda? Any other Tucsonans? Kyle

Beware of that company. They keep changing their brand names and marketing the same schlock when there get to be too many consumer complaints about the old brand. My nickel's worth... Out of curiousity, what was their old company name (or names)? I would hate for any of us to stumble upon one...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West edgestar freezer

Les is right... the big thing to look for is power draw. Most (if not all) of the fridge/freezers I have seen recommended us the Danfoss swing type compressor. If you are looking for a cheaper model, often the Waeco units are a little cheaper. I have one of their older models and have been...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How can I test the charging system?

Did the problem start when you installed your Solar panels/Controller? If so, is the controller malfunctioning and drawing current at night rather than disconnecting after the sun has gone down enough for the panels to no longer provide the minimum threshold of power to the controller? If the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air Compressor Thread

For what it is worth... I have yet to overheat mine filling the 35s on my Jeep from ~12 PSI to 30 PSI in the AZ heat. A friend of mine did overheat his though on his TJ. His didn't have very much airflow around it in his mounting location...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Emergency Communications? Ham Radio?

Mine is hardwired. I (thankfully) haven't really had to use it in the Dodge a whole lot, but it works well in the Jeep. It is a night and day difference vs. CB for clarity and range. Most people I have talked to shy away from the hand helds for vehicle use due to the reduced range. Some have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Emergency Communications? Ham Radio?

I went the 2 meter route as well for the same reasons. It is nice to talk back and forth with the group you are wheeling with too. They may be a mile or 2 away and out of sight, but still within the realm of communication distance. You can feel like you are out there all alone, but still have...

Dude! I can already go faster than any sane person should! :D I just want to do it more comfortably...! Yeah, yeah, yeah... :) That was the big difference when I made the switch was that the tires would actually stick to the ground rather than bouncing all over the road from the stiff...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pinal II

Scott, I noticed some of the same phenomenon with my Dodge and the factory suspension. After upgrading to the Lorenz suspension I can go faster than any sane person should over those types of roads w/ or w/o the camper. Kyle
