OTO team regarding the J80. I had a very very nice one for many yrs. Look up "pesky water hose" if you have not yet inspected and changed it. I discovered mine after dumping a fair bit of coolant going across town. Do it before you guys get to far into the back woods. Also front axle inner...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thinking about a new truck. What to buy?

BILL for kicks I would go take a look at the Canyon/Colorado. Given they are not too different than the Tundra, but have a higher capacity rating. Also very modern more car like safety structure. It wont be a big full size but probably worth a look to get ideas.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Curious if anyone has looked at the new Colorado or Canyon?

Foot print is nice and compact just a hair smaller than the Tundra in the numbers. Z71 with V6 and locking diff, 5ft2in bed shows a 1590lbd max bed load rating. Truck is 4380 curb weight with max Gross set at 6000lbs. Curious what you experienced Camper haulin types think of this new "mid size"...

Fred Used car shopping advice. Especially with the heavier Diesel trucks. Odometer fraud is very rampant especially in CA. Carfax rarely will give you all the data point you need. Best approach I have used for the last three used car purchases via private party. Have with the vin call your...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2014Tundra DBL Cab 4x4 5.7 Standard Bed and Hawk Good Match

The new Canyon/Colorado could be interesting. Boxed frame, higher payload etc. Without the size of a bigger rig. Im not a GM fan, but... Very curious how they do. The 1980's pontiac center shifter on the consol was a big mistake though. Fixed load on rough roads you want some buffer margin...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stolen Eagle Model in Sacramento last Friday

im not sure if there is any truth to this but I suspect insurance companies are faster to pay for repairs on vehicles that are insured based on replacement value vs depreciated value. Etc My old racing sailboat sold new from the factory in Santa Cruz for $22,000 in 1995. In 2011 a new one with...

Keep on the insurance company. With our racing boat which gained value, we set its replacement value with our Statefarm coverage. The policy was based on replacement value not estimated depreciated value.

Have you talked with or looked at Tony Huegel's routing and trip history? I would give him a ring and see what he says. I think Tony has done trips along this route a few times. He might save you some planning time. Looks like fun!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lifetime Tent Trailer

If I were doing lots of quick short stay type stuff. A flip top roof tent on a utility trailer would be my choice. Faster set up, you can have a kitchen /tailgate type platform etc. But ultimatly I see my self with a Diesel 4dr midsized PU with a FWC. Mileage and slightly smaller than a full...

As for quality and Life Time. Very good beefy well thought out. All the parts are very well made and fit exactly. As in EXACTLY.. I was impressed by it as I assembled it. Lifetime sent me a new side marker mine was cracked by the delivery truck while unloading the pallet. I ordered the spare...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Lifetime Tent Trailer

By the way I cut my load and unload time by packing all extra crap in large bags. Example Target roof top 42inch bag. Couple of straps and we slip it off the deck then set up. Takes us about 15minutes to be set up. Its not ideal for on the move quick stays, which case a roof top tent or FWC on a...

Hey Johnnyb I have one. Bought it in 2011 costco actually. The current model is different than mine. The one I have is like a mini jumping jack trailer. Some thoughts. One of the very smart decisions on Chevy's part was getting very friendly with Allison. This is the same guy with the Socal craigs listing that we called and spoke with. Sadly Toyota doesn't make em like that anymore. My 07 Sequoia is a nice machine but nothing to write home about regarding typical running costs of stuff that needs to be done.
