RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan variable speed control

Great job. It's definitely a nice addition. FWIW - The reason it doesn't completely stop rotating is because the duty cycle for the controller you have is 10 to 100%. The controller would have to be 0 to 100% for it to be able to stop.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan variable speed control

Thanks to everyone's posts and the extra help from Bill I was able to get my Fantastic fan put together and installed this weekend. I purchased a newer style used motor, fan and bracket off of eBay for ~ $40 and the motor controller with reversing switch for $8. The highest PWM frequency I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan variable speed control

Thanks Bill! I've been doing a bit of research. Since I have the factory installed basic fantastic vent unit already mounted in my camper, I'm looking into buying a used motor, fan blade and "wishbone" bracket assembly on ebay and one of the DC motor controllers with reversing switch you...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan variable speed control

Thanks Paul, I appreciate the information. I'm just looking for a basic fan and don't need a lot of extras. I do like the variable speed and low energy use the controller discussed above gives you. I also thought the reversing mode would be good, but I'm not sure how much I would actually use it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fantastic Fan variable speed control

I've been following the discussion and had a few questions I hope someone can answer. My camper has the basic vent, but no fan. I was going to buy a three speed with reverse model fantastic fan, but was wondering what affects the controller has on the fan's operation. Does the controller...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tailgate on or off?

Another reason to keep the tailgate on - my old camper was an 8' Hallmark that sat on my 6 1/2' bed ram. My son was backing up the truck to leave our camping spot. We were both in the cab and I told him "all clear" so he started moving back a bit too fast. Needless to say, we hit a tree we...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Montana - Summer 2015

Sounds like a great trip. I grew up hiking into the remote lakes of Colorado, and it was always a highlight catching those elusive high mountain lake trout! Can't wait to read the next installment.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mosquito Repellent for Campsite

I'm aware of the issues with DEET and outdoor gear, so I've started using Sawyer's Picaridin repellent. I got it at Cabelas, but I've also found it at Walmart. I'm also planning to buy their clothing spray. I usually spray myself pretty well, but I always seem to miss a spot and the mosquitos...

Same rig was posted on page 183 and was discussed a bit back then. I checked the initial craigslist ad and it's been flagged. If they're that serious about selling it, I would think they would have included a phone number. Just my 2 cents!

Thanks Old Crow. That gives me an idea what to look for. Hopefully being out here in the Desert, I won't have issues, but I've also dealt with broken screw heads, so I appreciate what you're saying.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Stripping and painting the exterior trim pieces

Looks great. Some of the trim screws on my camper are discolored or possibly rusting for some unknown reason, and I was going to replace them. If you don't mind me asking, what type of screw does FWC use, and how long are they?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2007 FWC Eagle - Many upgrades - Excellent SOLD

Nice camper. I like the open under couch storage. That would make access so much easier. How did you end up bracing the panels East-West panels? I would also like to hear more about your bed set up. I saw the picture of the under mattress layer for condensation, what product is it? My stock...

I agree with the first gen brake issues, They were way under sized! Once while driving in the Colorado mountains with a cab full of people (3 adults & 2 kids) I almost lost the brakes in my Tundra. They overheated, started shuddering and scared the crap out of me! Drove like my Grandma the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eccotemp L5 Tankless Hot Water Heater SOLD

I like the simplicity of the road shower, but I have two issues. 1) Where would you mount it? To get full sun exposure for solar/passive heating, a roof is about the only spot and that would seem to add a lot of weight to a camper. 2) I use my camper for fall hunting trips and would like...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West DSI hot water heater or tank less water heater?

I've been thinking about a water heater for my Hawk and I like the simplicity of a portable unit mounted outside. It would require fewer mods to the camper, but has anyone come up with a way to plumb it into the camper's water pump and back to the sink faucet? If you have, I'd appreciate...

Looking at the multiple ads, both show a location outside of Denver (Commerce City). A quick search of all of CL turned up another FUSO camper posted two months ago in the Denver area. It's a bit cheaper (only $119K), but also not as big.
