it was the worst part of the body. A lot of tiny spots of corrosion. It felt like rough sand paper. First I washed then lightly sanded with very fine grit then wiped it clean. I didn't test my hydrolic till I got it home. I was buying it wether or not they worked. Naturally 3 spurted oil. With hindsight I should have check oil level in the jack. low=leak. Placed rags under the jacks and around the tube tops prior to testing.

well, I posted the above question the day I got it. I've learned everything is pretty much do it yourself unless you take it to the factory. Great fun project...getting to know every nook and cranny.

that's a lot of tinkering..sounds like an enjoyable project. I'm pretty sure the "ashtrays" are metal 'guide slides' or whatever they're called. They keep the lid straight as it raises and lowers

thanks SRHoffman..you are right. The bolts lines up with the slide so it must anchor the insert that goes in the slide. If I ever take the lid off I'll have to check them out because they look after market to me. I put nuts on them and four little metal plates I found.

the bolt heads are behind the paneling on the inside so maybe a custom order from the factory? I was going to cut them off but maybe I can use them for something.

on either side of the door with 3 bolts protruding..guesses?

(1) loosen pressure release valve, pump several times, tighten (2) your method ..loosen farthest away fitting, pump bubbles out. (gonna try that tomorrow) (3) I'm going to go thru every thread here and look for another method.

thanks rusty.. got them all replaced and jacked it up 6 inches. Now I'm figuring out how to bleed them.

naturally I'm neck deep and they gave me the wrong size o-rings.. I'll update shortly

my new to me 1978 mini.. I think it was a sleeper because it looks all original, bench seats both sides.. never had an ice box, sink or stove that I can see. It's wider than it is long, 6' 1/2" length x 6' 3" width.

the plan is put the camper on the ground, lift the roof with jacks.. then slide up and out the 3/4 rod from the 1inch tube to reveal the o-ring. But other directions say to loosen the nut.. maybe both options are viable? here a couple pics. The bottom nut and the top of one ram.

well, after studying this thread like the zapruder film I'm going in.. off to buy my o-rings

so by "lift the top" are you saying the 3/4" tube can slide up and out of the 1" tube thereby revealing the o-ring? One instruction I read says to "loosen the large nut" at the bottom and slide out that way?

the campers in pretty good shape, had it 3 days and very happy. Gonna get a bunch a rags and tinker with the 0-rings

and the pump was almost empty.. I filled it and started pumping, I wanted to see where those pin holes were to lock the top. As soon as the holes cleared a stream of oil shot a foot from one and on 2 others fluid poured out. Now I know my pumps good and why it was out of fluid.

well, I been filling the wrong hole. I'm trouble shooting, hoping for an easy fix to raising my roof before I start taking things apart. Thanks, appreciate the help.
