RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Health scare and trip planning

Many agencies are either closing or thinking of closing facilities, both to avoid having large groups of public, but also due to the inability to provide PPE and cleaning supplies to employees (or contractors unable to obtain same). Counties are also looking at exercising their authority under...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting linear actuators inside camper to raise/lower roof

Couple of thoughts. If you think it might be an issue without lift panels, or EMT, use just 1/2" EMT on one end, it may stabilize it enough for raising and lowering. One other thought (at least for lowering) is the inside air pressure could help stabilize and is pretty easy to control with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting linear actuators inside camper to raise/lower roof

This is what I was thinking of doing to help lifting when we have our boats on top. I am looking forward to seeing how you work it out!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cooper Discoverer ATP/AT3 Tires - a Personal Critique

Thanks for the review. We have gone through two sets of Michelin LTX on our Tundra (and a set on our Tacoma before that). Got over 60K miles on each set, used in all conditions (including driving Teton Pass in the winter and summer going to work). Very good in snow, mud and pavement. Decent on...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Thinking of major renovation on my Alaskan

I would agree. There will be some folks who would like your renovation, but if you are worried about holding value, likely leaving it as stock as possible it the way to go. A couple of friends who do the same as you (use for work) bought used panel trailers and converted them into a camper...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Quartzite AZ (and 'surroundings')

If you plan on being along the Colorado, birding and fishing along Martinez Lake can also be worthwhile. Here are some other possibilities for birding: https://www.audubon.org/important-bird-areas/lower-colorado-river-valley# Wish we were going!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Quartzite AZ (and 'surroundings')

Burro Creek runs under the Joshua Tree Highway, decent camping and can be good birding (perennial stream). Also you can drive right up and boondock camp around the Gibraltar Mountains/East Gibralter/Swansea Mtns wilderness areas and Alamo Lake State Park has both developed and dispersed camping...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New National Park Concept

Another interesting aspect of land buying in Montana is the Hutterite colonies. They often buy out ranches at prices that individual ranchers cannot afford, but like APR, they do so with willing sellers. The APR process, while some may not like it, is no different than has been going on since...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2005 Eagle on a Harbor Freight #62647 single axle trailer

Consider looking for a good used raft/utility trailer. The one I have has 13" tires, axle suspension and is welded up from heavy steel. Way overbuilt for our raft, but have had no problems over many years on a lot of backcountry roads.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Adopted -> North Face VE 24 tent - Free to good home

Dang. Spent years in a VE 24 guiding and fooling around. Bought a LL Bean design like it and now that is worn out too. Don't like the VE 25 so an old 24 would have been great. Glad it is still in use!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Flat Beds--COG Can Be A Problem!?

We have an 05 Tundra with an ATC Ocelot on the stock bed. Had airbags installed but still did not like the sway. I installed a standard Hellwig sway bar with no problem (did have to do a very slight bend to the brake lines) and it substantially improved the handling. Not sure why the 04 Tundra...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Well happy winter everyone

We lucked out, spent the snowy T Day at friends in Sante Fe, then outflanked the storm (Flagstaff was not bad driving despite all the snow) and got to spend the next part of the trip at snow free Lee's Ferry. Red cliffs were pretty with fresh snow on them while the condors at Marble Canyon did...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Battery charging question

We have on 05 Tundra with an ATC. Have run the single battery down several times (due to lack of driving and/or just needing a new battery after years of use) - but have never had a problem with any blown fuses. I can't remember the gauge wire run from the truck to the camper, but I suspect it...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West So you like to go on really rough roads...

Regarding the lean - we have a wildland fire engine (large International) that was one of three all the same. One engine has always had a similar lean to the drivers side and no amount of head scratching during several trips back to the dealer and looked at by the San Dimas Center could figure...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Newbie with lots of questions on everything (2012 Tundra looking at an Ocelot)

For power, are you going to be parking the truck and camper, or driving pretty much every day to get to a hunting spot? We have an Ocelot on on 05 Tundra with a Propex furnace and it keeps it toasty. Condensation is an issue, but venting helps. Have wanted to try the Hypervent but have not so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Green River Float Trip?

Give Tex's a call in Moab. they do the shuttle up from Spanish Bottom and can give you up to date information. I have done it in canoe and also a whitewater kayak during the complete trip through Cataract Canyon. Either a sea kayak or canoe is great, canoe is more comfortable for us. Have fun

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2002 Eagle for sale

I don't have any photos but placed the Propex in our Ocelot so it sits on the shelf formed by the floor pack over the wheel well. I drilled down through the plywood, used sheet metal to flange the air inlet and heater outlet. Attached the air inlet pointing towards the front of camper and the...
