RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Warner Lakes Basin - June 2020

Thanks for the report. If you have not read William Kittredge's book, "Owning It All" do so. He grew up ranching in the Warner Valley. The stone corral is great - have seen similar in placed in Nevada, but much smaller. Another place to put on the list!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Montana - Smith River, Blackfoot River and the Road Home

Spent a lot of years fishing and boating the Blackfooot and North Fork - as well as hunting, logging, fighting fires and general carousing. Great country.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Taking camper on fire trails- turnbuckles

We have had a rubber mat under our Ocelot for years and it keeps the camper in place quite well. Turnbuckles are snug, but not tight. Agree with driving slow and we air down the tires when on miles of rougher road.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sourcing suggestions for bear spray

Foy, thanks for the geology note. I think I may have read that in some distant past, but would not have remembered it. That is interesting country. Had a friend who taught geology field camp out of Dillon for years - lot's of cool rocks and stratigraphy around there. Have fun!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Limiting Factor - Water, Battery, Freezer space, Toilet Paper?

We use these on fires now when doing coyote tactics - not like years ago going two weeks or more without a shower. https://gearjunkie.com/shower-pouch-big-body-wipe-review

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sourcing suggestions for bear spray

Foy, I know that trail too, can't say as I blame you. sometimes better to go somewhere else. Craig, likely the potential for a can leaking is why most carriers won't ship it. Had a can go off in the tail boom of a 212 in Alaska. It was in a foam lined ammo can and it got into the cabin readily...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sourcing suggestions for bear spray

Bear spray does not lose potentecy, what happens is that the propellant can slowly leak from the container and the spray does not get dispersed as well as it should. Check with the manufacturer about how to test - I believe weighing the can and marking the date and weight and re-weighing is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camper Mounting Bed Damage

I agree with Vic. Unless that is an end of a piece of channel that is pulling up from the eyebolt, it seems like an odd place to have a crack forming.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Is everyone tired of build threads? Eagle shell/06 Dodge 2500

Always good to see what folks put together. Many ideas have worked for me, others are either beyond my ability or needs. Post away!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sealing the rear window on the door

Yep on a 2013 Ocelot. Pulled it out and resealed with caulk. Fixed that about five years ago. Now have to chase another leak that after reading some other posts, I think is around the whole door frame. That will have to wait cause it is time to go on a trip before fire season kicks into gear up...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vic's new 2012 Puma build

We have not used bow ties for years. Two straps over the boat and a cam strap from one of the cross bars to a thwart. No problems and rarely needs tightening even in windy conditions.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WIFI & Cell phones

Have used a WebBoost for years. Often one bar will go to three. We just use the small, magnetic external antenna.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vic's new 2012 Puma build

Looks like a beautiful boat, should paddle great. i seam sealed all the window seams since we had the same problem in driving rain. Used standard Aquaseal for tent seams. Has been on for several years with no issues of peeling, etc. You can put it on pretty thin and force into the thread holes...

That was great, thanks! Went to a session with Nathan Pieplow a couple of years ago (earbirding.com) and it helped me a lot to figure out bird calls.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to unscrew these square hole nuts?

Most lumber supply stores should have bins of all these type of bits and Star bits. I usually grab a few every other time in the store since they can wear out quickly.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vic's new 2012 Puma build

oh, that will be nice. After 29 years our old Mad River Explorer died of cracks so we bit the bullet and bought a kevlar canoe. 43# outfitted weight and it paddles very lightly. Don't want to be banging rocks like we could, but getting it on top of the camper is way easier. As soon as I retire...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reflectix-How to attach to the FWC windows

Same as Edgewood. Has worked fine that way for the past seven years. We leave it up in the summer too to keep the camper cooler and just remove when we want to have more light when we are inside.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Qubelok or Connect-It connectors in USA

Those might make a good frame and the plywood provide the skin to hold it together. Wonder if you could use 1/4" ply and still have enough strength to hold it together through the vibration

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Heavy Wind Pop-UP Truck Camper

Having had two tents shredded around me by winds, being in our camper in high winds seems pretty bombproof. Might not get too much sleep, but I don't worry about the camper. Never have (yet) driven down the highway with it up, but from what the folks with experience say, not a problem. Pointing...
