RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I Have a Complete 1985 Owners Manual...

Thanks Frank. Same problem, though-- ever see that Far Side cartoon contrasting what you say to a dog with what a dog hears? Owner says to the dog "Come here Brian, sit. Stay". Dog hears (according to Gary Larson) "blah, blah, Brian, blah, blah..." That's kind of what happens with explanations...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I Have a Complete 1985 Owners Manual...

Thanks, but none of that makes any sense to me at all. Like reading Gray's Anatomy to a basset hound. I could email it to someone who could post it, I suppose.

...that I would love to post up to cover the gap between the two we already have available. Trouble is, I have no idea how to upload photos to this forum (my usual method is Tapatalk, but apparently that doesn't work here). Adding to this, my understanding of & patience with computers is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got My CO, Got Questions

Until we get it on the IH, everywhere it sits is temporary, so I don't see much point in messing with it until then. I am starting to see some need for the flattest surface possible for one of these campers to sit on, one that stays flat & doesn't flex much. If anything, the bottom door...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got My CO, Got Questions

It was dead level when we lowered it in Portland prior to setting out for home, but, like I say, some spray lube pretty much solved that. I'll refer to this when I get it up to WY on a level surface; right now, it's sitting in my buddy's sloped driveway, raised only enough to clear the tops of...

I spoke too soon: I did find that connector under "towing", not "RV electrical" where I expected to find it. Anyway, thank you again.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got My CO, Got Questions

Cool-- thanks! I found lifting on the front of the CO evens it up, but I think that only works when it's out of the truck. I'll look at those o-ring & fluids again. I need to replace the o-rings in the NCO, so a refresher won't hurt.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got My CO, Got Questions

Thank you for the tip. I looked in every possibly relevant electrical category there and came up empty. Same with RV Parts Country— nothing. If I was looking for 110V cords, I’d be in business, but this one seems like it might not be obtainable anymore. So be it— I’ll hardwire it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got My CO, Got Questions

Next question: I remember my grandfather’s ‘66 F-250 had a four-prong plug on the driver-side of the truck roof for the camper 12V feed. Where do I get one of those receptacles to install on the truck?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Finally Got My CO, Got Questions

Picked up my new (to me) '85 8' CO in Portland this past weekend. I found out it's one-owner, with all manuals & paperwork received at purchase. I also found out the top lowers unevenly and actually bound up when we lowered it for loading (dry lube spray solved that). Why does it (other...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West In Case You're Considering a Cat INV2000 Generator...

If you’ll reread my original post, the HA kit is specified for altitudes >3000’ which is all of the state of Colorado, for example. Ironic you’re describing to me what my assumptions were at the time of purchase. Having run Cat equipment over the years, I figured this generator would perform...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West In Case You're Considering a Cat INV2000 Generator...

I understand having to procure the necessary parts, and that looks like the route I’ll have to go. I did the very same trial-&-error rejet process with my ‘67 Jeep M715. The thing is, I didn’t buy this generator looking for another project. I have plenty, some fun (above Jeep, IH 4x4...

...and plan to use it above 3000', keep looking: the High Altitude kit you WILL need to obtain proper performance is not yet in production, and won't be in production for the foreseeable future, according to a parts person at Wagner Cat in Denver. I bought one last summer, and would not do so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Floor Support Question

I think I might have followed your advice to the tee, PR-- almost. I bought an '85 in Portland, OR, that appears to have the very cabinetry you advise to steer clear of. Not very pretty. But-- it's been stored inside, has all the features I wanted, and is in very good condition from the pix...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West WTB: 8' Alaskan CO

Found one in Portland, OR. Going to pick it up in a couple weeks, so don’t need a camper now but I sure could use a three-day run of good weather along I-80 through Wyoming, if anyone’s got any pull with such things...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Floor Support Question

We’ll bolt the camper to the subframe at the corners (at minimum) after rubber mounting the subframe to the truck frame. I’ve got lots of metal & lots of wire to add mounting tabs, brackets, flanges, etc. where needed, so that camper will be mounted securely. There won’t be a “bed” in the...
