Not sure if this helps-- but my center of mass is aprox 35" above ground, the alaskan is on a 3" frame that sits on the deck which is 53" above ground. No problems for me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sheet metal availability? replacement?

I was fortunate enough to get an Alaskan that had been fully reskinned in AL... Roof-one full section to the top of windows, front/back full pieces, below windows full pieces.. Pretty straight forward and very bombproof. .here is a pic of seams

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West The underlayment under the mattress

I use a similar material to the above mentioned 'Reflectix' in our Alaskan Camper, makes a good bit of difference (and its easy to stow).. Since we are only away for two or three days at a time , Im not that worried about condensation.. But it is something to keep in mind. Side note'' Reflecitx...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Pros/Cons Alaskan on trailer

I have not been able to find anything dedicated to the actual benefits of using a trailer or that brings up items that detract from using a trailer... My situation is I have a 10NCO , usually I put it on my work vehicle that has a 8' deck, the problem is that I have to remove a large toolbox...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Escape Hatch?

Their are laws on the books BUT they are state to state/Prov. to Prov. and can also depend on what camper ''Class '' your in..Some places have them some dont. Look into your local laws if your really interested.. I can see regulations for all new ''campers'' to have an alternative egress but for...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A couple of questions for you

Mine is on a subframe that is bolted down when its on the flatdeck. No strapping down as its been reskinned so it a tad heavier (+ canoe on top) and I drive a Mog so I will never see high speeds to worry about thing flying off.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to make side lockers on trailer

If you are halfway decent with a welder these types of lockers might be suitable for you rpurpose, they are on my to do list this spring. At present I have built a subframe that my jackstands can slide into for use when installing or removing camper form my deck. When I first though about...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mount “ditch spots” on tow hooks? / legality / clamps?

You might want to invest in a illuminated switch for a reminder that you have them on .. On all my Aux eq. I have ''dummy'' lights and they have saved the battery more than once. You can even go one step further and wire it so that if the light goes out your switch will not illuminate.

Are you serious about this?? ''There is a common misconception that fog lights are for seeing better in fog. They are not. Fog lights are so other people see you.''

When I retrofitted new headlight into my 40 yr old ones I went with Hella extreme yellow H4 bulbs. Living in the rainy Pacific Northwest I find they make a good difference. Another good source of bulbs/lights is https://www.rallylights.com/

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West So you like to go on really rough roads...

So all this talk of airing down is fine but do you all have compressors to air back up, or do you travel in packs?? My vehicle is stock with a compressor for my brakes, so no worries for me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Insulating

I did see that you can get the option of an insulated floor from the company. Since my camper is on a flatdeck it will be pretty easy for me to insulate from the bottom up. For the cost of some rigid insulation and a little bit of work I think it will be more than worth it. This past trip we...

I have an older (1970?? been re-skinned with Al, so no dates/cards) NCO that I'm trying to find the interior height. I have seen 6'4" but that was in reference to newer models. Does anyone know if that has been the same height all along?? Thanks G Vavra

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Driving on gravel roads, use 2wd or 4wd ?

I guess that I'am the odd guy out as I drive a Mog and really do not worry about 4wd on backroads, 2wd is fine for 99% of the Forestry Service Roads. Having driven on backroads for 20plus years it comes down for me to speed and tire pressure. Go fast and things can go to crap in a hurry, same as...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack tear down

The last time I raised the camper two of the jacks seemed alot slower than the others.. I have been doing interior work for along time and in that period the hydraulic jack leaked enough fluid to let air into all the ''legs'( for a better term). making dropping the roof not doable. I had wanted...
