RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

I just got back from 5 days in Death Valley. One of our jaunts was a 3 day, 230 mile dirt adventure from cerro gordo to white talc, to saline, to dedeckera to steele pass to eureka dunes. I ran the following setup and it worked flawlessly with 1000lbs in the bed of my truck and the 46 gallon...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Swift Ordered - Now to prep the truck :-)

Thanks, I’ve never run either trail so I’m curious. I’ll have a built 80 series Land Cruiser with me also. I have sliders and skidplates and such. My only concern is my 46 gallon tank hangs down a bit low. That’s the only thing I’m worried about. Not sure on the cradles. I put like 5lbs in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Swift Ordered - Now to prep the truck :-)

Amazon, and they were about $65 One thing worth noting. I have the 2.5” old man emu suspension lift. I had the firestone 2” spacers under the bags. The spacers needed to be removed to Intsall the cradles. Cradles are about an inch thick. All said and done, the bags sat in the cradles...

The OME Are already available for a bunch of models. Just not the Tundra yet. Supposedly by end of year. They are about $500 a piece: Example: http://store.arbusa.com/OME-BP-51-BYPASS-SHOCK-TOYOTA-FJ-CRUISER-REAR-BP5160002-P22874C85.aspx I’m on several Toyota forums and several reports of...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

Yes sir.. OME is currently developing Resevoirs for the Tundra and I’m waiting for them to be released and installing them as soon as they are. The front of my truck is basically stock weight. I’m waiting to install my winch until they are released. At that time I’ll also go up a spring...

Im not for internet arguing but I get bummed out when people spread bogus info. The 5100s will barely be better than stock. With that much weight, you need a reservoir shock to cool the oil. Don’t believe me? Go drive 5 miles down a fireroad and touch your shock, it will be hot to the...

Extra Leaf + Aribags will help a bunch. Shocks will have minimal effect on sway though.

Interesting... I bought mine new, TRD, and mine had the nice shocks but none of the TRD skidplates like my friend got with his. Weird

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

Yes, those are the standard shocks. Did you buy this truck used by chance? Only reason I ask, the gray TRD decals aren’t stock. They are red and black on the white trucks. Maybe the previous ownded just put the decals on?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

Yes, but a stock shock with the minimal oil will get HOT even on a simple washboard. Once they heatup they lose the damping. We did a bunch of test in Death Valley. 5 miles on racetrack playa road and the shocks were scalding hot. And that’s a basic fireroad
  20. S

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

No, the reservoirs have a lot more oil to disapate the heat from the weight

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Air bag and tire pressure

With the weight of the camper it is going to generate heat so some sort of Resovoir shocks will help with that a lot. I run the Bilstein 5160s in the rear and so far with about 10k dirt miles fully loaded they do great and they aren’t that expensive and bolt right on. Once I get my FWC I might...

Could also order off amazon and have it delivered to a local post office at the next place youre stopping in your travels. Ive done that before several times with moto stuff. The lines should be a 20 minute fix, if that

OttoRogers For some reason it wont let me "quote" you... I have the 2.5" OME. Even before I added my leer top and decked system, the truck rode 100x better than stock, felt like a luxury car on the freeway and nice and stable but not harsh on dirt roads. When I added the Leer top and decked...

What are you running for springs??? My current setup is close to the weight of a FWC in my Tundra and almost zero sway.
