RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mounting a four wheel on a composite tacoma

Hi Folks, I made my own cross bed brackets after seeing the pictures like the ones Stan posted here. I had no trouble with them on a nearl 10K mile trip, with ample driving on washboard roads. they were pretty easy to make and certainly saved me a few hundred dollars. I will probably post my...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Eagle airfoil on 01 Tacoma

Guys - Here's what I came up with; made from a 6 ft. length of rain-gutter cover I found at Home Depot and mounted to the underside of the cabover with aluminum angle, screws, and pop-rivets. I saw posts about this on the Overland site, with drawings, etc.; and then came up with my own...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Traveling with bed pulled out - mattress solution

Hey Jim, I'm about to try the "store the pad" somewhere method, as I had two pads made for my Ranger (none came with the camper) that were 2" and I bottomed out. So I ordered another 1" pad and managed to tuck it into the same cover as the 2"; so now I'm much more comfortable. But, as you know...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Another great cleaning product

Hey folks - Thought I'd pass-on this tip about a cleaner I found that worked great on the canvas and the alum. siding. It got black crud off both that nothing else would touch, and the canvas almost looks like new. This stuff, along with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser did the trick. What's funny is...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West lift panel quick fix?

I rebuild my rear lift panel with birch plywood. It turned out real nice and looks great, but it was a chore dealing with all the pop-rivets, etc. There are several posts on the subject and lots of good pictures to guide you along. Good luck! tom

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Roof Lifting

Hey Guys - I know we're supposed to list "gear for sale" elsewhere, but since this is still an active thread, I'm giving it a shot -- even if I might get spanked. I bought one of the speaker tripod crank stands and it works well, however; when I built a custom camera shooting platform for the...

Folks - I've got interest in 2 of the 3 available sets of the jam nuts - any takers for the last set? Call it my small way of giving back for all I've learned from this forum. Tom Hi Folks - So, I wanted to have lock nuts for my turnbuckles (standard type) but couldn't find left-hand...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West inside paneling removal/re-installation

Hi - I removed all my interior panels and it wasn't so difficult, however; they were in bad shape so I worked hard on installing new birch panels which I secured with narrow crown air-gun staples at the top and bottom. While I was at it, I reattached a few alum. frame members that had broken...

Hi BC - guess I never saw those threads even though I read everything, or so I thought. Heaven forbid should I have stirred a tired old pot yet again. Tom Actually, there's been lots of "discussion" (mostly spewing of personal opinions...), most-recently here, on a closely-related topic that...

Hi rotti - I do have military training from a hundred years ago and even further back hunting too. I will do the CCL course before I depart. Creeps was a general term for low-life's who try to steal stuff, if not harm too; and like you I never encounter them, or rarely, but I want to be ready...

Hey folks, Since I haven't read anything on this topic here I wanted to find out if it's customary to carry "protection" when one is on the road or in back country. RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Door Off - What to re-seal with?

Hey Folks, After all the resto work I've been doing on my '98 Ranger, I still find water on the floor at rear. So I took the door off and after removing all screws it popped-off rather easily. What it was sealed with was 3/4" weatherstripping, the peal and stick kind, light gray, so me thinks...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Noobie Roof Leak Repair

Hey S. D. -- It looks like you did a good job on the repair. I ended up replacing all the roof screws with larger diameter new ones from Lowes that came with the washers in place. They really hold tight and there was no need to add sealant. Thanks for mentioning what the ATC folks do with...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear lift panel fabrication

Hey Guys, I began removing and fabrication a new rear lift panel today (top all broken) as per Rich's post of sometime back. Boy, is that a job or what? I lost count of how many rivets I drilled and punched out. That took the most time. Anyway, I cut and re-drilled the two panels of 1/4 birch...
