RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Where did you mount your Hi-Lift jack?

I mount mine to the garage floor/corner. I HATE my hi-lift and generally want nothing to do with it....

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3/4 ton is not the end all

It is not squirrelly and actually feels better since the truck without anything in it is hard riding in the rear. It is much nicer with the camper on it. It did just fine pulling the Jeep to Moab too. My 3/4 ton Chevy rides better with the Grandby in the back as well. Which is a good thing...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Heater Power usage

Just to be the negative nancy --- you could also have a bad heater control board inside the heater.... When mine went bad it would work 'sometimes'....

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Interesting Realization

We'd had our camper for almost a year before we spent a night in it WITHOUT the heater - I actually did a happy dance! We are probably at 75-80% heater nigths.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Multiple Charging Sources

At what point are we spending a ton of money to get either a few more amps out of our battery per cycle OR a few more cycles out of the battery over its lifetime?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 12v outlet and inverter question

Your inverter 12v plug might not be 'plugging in' correctly with the camper 12v outlet. Just guessing. Do you have any other 12v items you could try in the camper, off that outlet?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West electrical problem

I second the motion that Zero voltage doesn't seem right - I've never seen a 12v vehicle size battery show Zero even when really, really dead.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tags Needed?

Per Oregon DMV if your camper is less than 5.5' tall, it is not a camper and does not need to be registered. Oregon DMV camper page I have had mine in the back of my truck for months at a time and never had a problem.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Must Have Option

With little kid(s) the #1 thing I need when I started searching for a camper was the heater.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dometic cf40 in the backseat between two kids

I have an edgestar which is the most wasteful of the 12v fridge/freezers - so I'd imagine it gets the hottest. I would not be worried at all about it in the back seat of my truck between my kids based on heat output. I'd be worried about it moving around in the truck during an accident and...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West worried about someone stealing my camper

I think you are too worried. Trailers and trucks/camper combos disappear all the time but I have not heard of anyone stealing a truck camper by iteslf. Park something big in front of it. OR tie a mean dog to it. :D

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CPAP and electrical requirements for camper

I've got one (haven't used it much in the last year though) and I never bothered using the humidifier. Kinda like chapstick, if you get used to using it you need it otherwise you likely don't most of the time. I guess my father in-law is just a wuss... :D

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CPAP and electrical requirements for camper

Yes, from what I have read, the heated humidifier can often have a greater electrical demand than the CPAP itself as it is an electrical resistance type device. It looks like I will have to use the CPAP without the humidifier. Thanks for your input. Have you tried the CPAP without the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CPAP and electrical requirements for camper

I'd go with 2 batteries, plus 150-200 watts of solar, add in some driving around each day and you should be good for 1 or 2 day at a time. But you aren't going to make it much longer than 2 days before you deplete your batteries to the point where solar won't keep up. I'd cross out the swamp...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West A stupid Question

Automobile 12v systems don't 'really' have a seperate ground, they have Battery (+) and Battery (-), so I am guessing you have battery (+), battery (-) and the running lights (+) on the 3 wires. :D

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West My bitchin' airbag story

I too blame it on the super cheezy bracket/spacer. I do like the use of the leaf spring perch in the repair job. That looks a lot better and much more likely to handle the load of the camper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New camper battery in series with "older" battery?

The two batteries will work together to become an '87%' battery (whatever that means).... When hooked together they will only be as good as the worst battery. I say run it. If they are the same type/rating/capacity/brand/etc you should be fine (assuming the 'old' one is really at 87% of like...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Jack stands

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Getting ready for another summer on the road

I was probably the first one here to send my 1314 in on the recall. I waited all summer to get the replacement - but it wasn't a big deal for me. I did end up getting one of the first replacements offered - works great so far!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2012 Fleet for sale

Don, That is quite a story. Just a thought on another possible option. Australia is a big country with lots of great places to explore just like here. Since you have a pretty long time commitment, would it be worthwhile to ship the camper and use it there? Make the company pay to have it and...
