RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Spare Tire Mount Directly on FWC

No way I'd mount one to the side/rear of a FWC. They just are not designed or built up to the task. I'd build a swing away setup tied to the frame of the truck if it were me.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West new customers for FWC

We did our once weekly trip into town today to buy groceries, garage sale, etc. and were approached by 2 different men about our camper. We had received a few cards and brochures from Terry at FWC so handed them out. Both were very interested and we gave them a tour both inside and out...

You are lucky - I found a 'hidden' culvert and cut a giant hole in the sidewall of one of my tires. OUCH!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 Way vs Compressor Fridge

From following most fridge threads - it appears that as soon as a 3-way fridge dies around here, it gets replaced with a compressor fridge. That is what I did and I am so happy. I plan to buy another compressor fridge long before I buy another 3 way fridge. As for pro/cons. I think they have...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Anyone have a PowerStream DC-DC charger?

Remove the powerstream and let your truck alternator/trailer charge circuit do the thinking. Place a 30 amp fuse in place of the powerstream and call it a day :D It would charge when you drive and automatically disconnect when you shut off the ignition. I know the powerstream is a cool...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I think I am getting my moneys worth

We stated a travel journal that stays in the camper; we document the number of nights spent, what we did, memorable moments and who we were with....should be fun looking back years from now. That is how we are doing it as well. Hopefully we can fill up the journal and need to get a second...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I think I am getting my moneys worth

Good for you! So what do you say is the main reason you have expanded the camping nights with the addition of the FWC? The roof and a heater. My son is now 20 months old - when we first started with the camper he wasn't yet a year old. A tent wasn't going to cut it, he wiggles, kicks, fights...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I think I am getting my moneys worth

I will have had my camper for a full year coming up in a few weeks. We went on our first trip Sept, 5 2010. We've logged 22 nights in it so far (yes, we do actually have a log book, old fashioned paper and pen). WooHoo!!! I know for some that might not be much. But for me it is about 20 nights...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 Family trips in one month, Phew!

We are just now recovering from 3 different 'family' camping trips with 3 different sets of family. I love my family, but maybe next year we will spread the trips out a little more. It started July 8-10 with a trip to Paulina Lake, Newberry Caldera National Monument just north of La Pine, OR...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Identify this old camper?

The exterior looks 90% like my 1993 FWC - but the popup mechanism is ??? If that flap over the door is mostly water tight that would be great, no more head knockers!!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3 way fridge re-hab - 12V repair

Jeff, You just nailed the problem I've had with every 3 way fridge. They work great if all you need is 30 to 40 degrees below ambient. Ambient being the key word here. When the temps get into the 80's & 90's, 60 degree milk is pretty rank. My brother in-law was just camping this past week...

My granby loaded for a week with 2 dudes weighed in at 1500#. But with a 3/4 ton truck I really don't care :D I figured it was all the crap I added that put me over the top - 160 pounds in water alone. Probably 50 pounds for the beer, booze and beer cooler. 50+ pound battery. Etc, Etc, Etc. Oh...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Reflectix insulation

I think I'll try this. :) FYI: Do not use your wifes good sewing machine and expensive needles... The glue on the adhesive velcro comes off on the needle and gums everything up - ask me how I know. DOH!! But if you start with the sew on velco it works much better. I've used the real...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Propane stove component cleaning

What about soaking it in oven cleaner? The burners not the regulator. The regulator will die if you soak it in over cleaner. You can buy all new regulators and hoses - pretty standard stuff.
