RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Have 160W Solar- Think I need More

I have a 2017 Fleet with the same battery and solar set up as you it sounds like. I also have the the 2 way Isotherm fridge (smallest size). I find that the fridge really drains the batteries at night. The compressor will keep running even on a cold night with the temp setting on one. Could be a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West new Tacoma and FWC build advice

I have a Fleet on a 2010 Tacoma. I started with air bags. I did not care for the ride. I recently changed to the Boise Spring Works stage 2 kit with Bilstein shocks all around. I much prefer the ride now, both with the camper on and off. The rear sits a little high with the camper off, but the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West CO / Propane alarm sounding - solutions?

I have the same problem with my 2017 Fleet. The alarm would randomly go off for no reason. I unplugged it. Got zero help from the dealer in Oregon where I bought it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Top-down use: how often do you sleep in/use your FWC with the top down?

I put the top down in strong wind recently, and slept in the front dinette area. I do not feel comfortable in the bed when the wind is blowing hard toward the front of the truck. There is a lot force trying to push the roof down, and if you were in the bed when it came down, you could get hurt...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Smell/heat from electrical outlet panel

I noticed the smell on a recent camping trip, and then discovered that two of the USB outlets were dead. They could have been in use when the smell started. Not totally sure though.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Smell/heat from electrical outlet panel

I just had the same issue on my 2017 Fleet. There was an electrical smell and then two of the USB outlets on one side went dead. I’m not real happy about this considering how new the camper is. I guess I’ll have to dig in there and replace the USB outlets. Gotta check the fuses also.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tacoma MPG w/ FWC?

I get 16 mpg in my 2010 Tacoma with the 4 cylinder engine and Fleet. It doesn’t seem to matter what type of driving I’m doing. I always get about 16 mpg. I do have oversized e-rated BFG all terrain tires. I like the reliability of the Tacoma, especially with the 4 cylinder timing chain engine...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Wyoming Back Roads

I ran into a large group of “trekkers” on Rd. 2302 last summer. The trekkers, as they call themselves, are mainly LDS youth. They have a camp at Rock Creek Hollow, which is where some members of the Willie Handcart Company died back in 1856. It was strange to run into all those kids on that...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Used Camper Alert Thread

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/1605339382894529 It might be a good project for someone for 800 bucks. I have no relation to the seller.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bicycle racks on an FWC

I have the 1up rack on my Tacoma with Fleet camper. Just got back from a trip to Utah with it. The 1up rack system works great and is very well made. Up to two more trays can be added. The trays tilt down, which allows access to the camper without removing the bike. I can use the hitch as a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tacoma Suspension Upgrades - Help!

I can't argue with you there! I have the 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual transmission model Tacoma. I have to use 3rd gear or even 2nd gear on hills with the camper on. The power is marginal for sure, and it doesn't help that I live at 5400' elevation.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Tacoma Suspension Upgrades - Help!

I put air bags on my 2010 Tacoma and called it a day. I haven't done any other suspension mods. I only put the camper on for trips though. Can't stand daily driving with the camper on.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC poptop Truck Campers allowed in grizzly bear campgrounds?

The campgrounds along the North Shoshone River are all open. Just wanted to add that I asked the campground host at the "no pop up camper" places and he specifically said my FWC wasn't allowed there. I was there in early June of this year. Unfortunately, the river was like chocolate milk, so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Approach to Planning, researching road(s) & trips

I really like the Gaia GPS app on my iPhone for navigation. I use it on every trip. You can download maps for the area you're going to be in. No cell service is needed once you get the maps downloaded. The resolution is better on a smart phone than on a dedicated GPS. And the maps you can...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC poptop Truck Campers allowed in grizzly bear campgrounds?

There are several campgrounds along there. The first ones closest to the east entrance of YNP do not allow FWC popup campers. That is grizzly country. But keep going just another 10 miles east towards Cody and the campgrounds do allow popup campers. Tents are fine too.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How in the world to camp in the Midwest and avoid ticks?

I'm in Wyoming and do a lot of fly fishing, so I find myself bush whacking along rivers quite a bit. Even wearing long pants and sleeves, I got a tick. Ugh. They're big buggers here. I guess they're not the type that carries Lyme disease. I just pulled it off with tweezers. I seem to be OK. I'll...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Camping/Fishing near Big Hole, MT

Try to float the river if you can. Bring a raft or pontoon boat. The only tricky water is in the canyon section. You might want to avoid floating that section if you don't have some experience. Out of state people can only float during the week, unless the regs have changed. I've stayed at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West ZAMP overcharging batteries/ triggering propane alarm? How to check?

I have the same problem with my Four Wheel Fleet, which is only 2 months old. The propane alarm would go off every afternoon with the propane tank valves closed. I did not know it could have something to do with the batteries. I have the 160 watt solar panel with Zamp controller and dual Excide...
