RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Loading and unloading without jacks stands

I looked at this on their web site. Couldn't find a price, so I called. The person on the phone said they were still working on the price, but thought it would be around $4,500.00. I can get jacks for a 1/4 of that, or even a stable lift for 1/2 the $.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Ceiling lift boards

I was in the same position (I think) as the OP. My Grandby is a late 70s or early 80s. My lift panels were homemade 1/4" plywood, done by the previous owner. There was a hinge at the bottom only. A real pain to lift the top even with nothing on it. I ordered one lift panel thinking I needed at...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West RV Power Distribution Center

I recently bought a WFCO 8725 power distribution center for my ancient Grandby rehab. When I read the instructions (sparse) it said to connect a wire (forget which one) to a chassis ground. Any ideas on how to do that? Do I just connect the correct wire to a frame member in the camper? Thanks...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1980 grandby

Good luck on your floor! Mine was rotten under the door. After looking at it and figuring I had to narrow the existing floor pack anyway, I finally decided to build a whole new floor pack, sized for a modern truck. As you said, not hard but it takes some time. Dusty.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cheap, easy fix for a difficult, expensive problem

I am interested in hearing an update on this. Any roof alignment problems with not being attached to the top, especially when lowering the roof? Thanks, Dusty

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Floor Replacement

Sorry, been away from the 'puter for the weekend. Deethe: No problem! Hope it works out for you. Marty: Thanks again!. The eye bolts were large, perhaps a 1" eye, and drilled through the camper frame. Also, thanks again for the tip on the plywood. Another question.....These boards just sit in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Let the fun (project) begin!

Did you ever get the dimensions for the lift panels? Both of mine are MIA, having been replaced with a single piece of plywood, hinged only at the bottom of the wood. It is not connected in any way at the top! Thanks! Dusty

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Floor Replacement

Deethe: I had really no thought about a hydronic system for a variety or reasons. If you look at some of the Alaskan builds on here (I think it was here) there is a guy that bought a used Alaskan with hydronic heat. From what I can tell, it was a major PIA and not very efficient. My plans are...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Floor Replacement

Well...it followed me home! "It" being the above referenced Grandby. I ended up borrowing an OBS Form from a friend to get it. I think it is older than mid-80's. The PO told me the floor had some soft spots. When I got a chance to look at it... he wasn't kidding! There is a hole about 10" long...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Floor Replacement

Thanks Ski! I think you are right about replacing the entire floor pack. However, time does not allow for that now. Maybe next winter when I have time. I think the PO just got ahead of himself and didn't notice the soft spot until he was doing the narrowing project. But what the heck, for $100...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Floor Replacement

Hi all! Long time lurker, now member. Just spent most of the morning looking at all of the FWC rebuilds and dreaming. They don't come up for sale very often in the upper Midwest. I am looking at an older (probably mid 80s) FWC. It has the jalousie windows, and I think the aluminum frame. The...
