RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West storing camper on pitched driveway- tips

Mine is stored like this all of the time. Just extend the downhill jacks so the camper is level. My rear jacks are almost fully collapsed and my front jacks have almost a foot of tube showing. I'll take a pic in the morning and post it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New camper on Titan and question about airbag install gone wrong

I have to disagree on using the tow/haul mode with a camper on the truck. If your Nissan is programmed anything like my Ford, it does all sorts of cool things while in Tow/haul mode. I never realized this before as I live in south Louisiana and haven't ever towed or hauled anything in the...

Also not away from the crowds but a must do is Great Sand Dunes NP. Absolutely breathtaking and a unique place to check out.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Questions four wheel camper

For what you are looking for you may want to check out the Northstar options. Still rough road capable but definitely able to set up off the truck as a base camp. Larger freshwater tank. They make a hardside flatbed model but also make slide in popup models. They would probably be able to make a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Starting From Scratch

My 8ft ATC Cougar fits nicely in the bed of my 2009 Ford F150 Supercrew with the really short bed. I install it with the tailgate down. I'd have no hesitation to run Imogene with the camper installed. In fact, I did Cinnamon and Stoney (rated 4 and 5 respectively) in scattered showers a week ago...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Alternate Backup Camera F-250

There is a much cleaner solution for this. There is a product called a lockpick. http://www.coastaletech.com/synclockpick.htm It allows you to plug in any aftermarket camera to the factory harness and use it on your display. It also does all sorts of other cool stuff. But it does what you want...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Believe It or Not: you get better milage with tailgate closed.

As did every automaker many years ago. Do you really think they'd be putting solid tailgates on trucks today if they weren't better for mileage with the CAFE ratings as high as they are?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gray Water disposal

Yep. I just used it for a 2.5 week trip to wyoming and colorado. The only time I had trouble with it was when I forgot to open the vent. When open, it drains just like your sink at home. The only issue is that the hose that comes with it is too short for my truck, a new 4wd F150 with 34" tires...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West GPS for your iPad - Garmin GLO

The built-in GPS in my 4G ipad has always been perfectly accurate compared to the IFR Certified Garmin 430 in the panel of my aircraft as opposed to my Garmin 496 portable that occasionally looses signal lock. Timing, speed, and ETA have always been mirrored between the two. I've got a couple...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Gray Water disposal

Storing a 5 gallon bucket is still a pain. I use this. http://www.rvplus.com/zebra-rv-accessories-covered-bucket-grey-water-tank-r7701.html Compact when empty. (Only like 3" thick folded up.) And expands automatically when filling. And, cheap. Here's a pic testing it out in the driveway

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What to replace manual faucet with?

Got the pump mounted this afternoon and temp installed the faucet to test. Works great. I'm having to make a wood spacer to cover the huge hole the stock faucet uses and the spar urethane is drying. As soon as I get it finished I'll start a new thread with the install for those that want to dump...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West F150 FX4 EcoBoost

I have an 09 F150 Screw 5.5' bed that I put an ATC Couger on. It hangs just slightly behind the open tailgate. I occasionally want to pull my poling skiff when I have the camper in. The skiff on the trailer weighs about 1500# with a correspondingly low tongue weight. I had a local fabrication...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West What to replace manual faucet with?

I'm looking to replace the manual faucet that came on my Cougar with an electric pump and faucet. Who has done this and what did you use? I'm tired of trying to wash dishes with this thing barely dribbling.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 3/4 ton upgrade to 1/2 ton......

I've got an 09 F150 Supercrew with the short bed. I actually run an 8' Four wheel camper Cougar on it. With the Helwig sway bar and Firestone bags at 25# it rides very close to stock. Another thing that always comes up is the brakes on half tons. That's just ridiculous. These things weigh 2000#...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me Cougar on an F150 Supercrew

Installed a Hellwig rear sway bar yesterday and a set of Firestone airbags this afternoon. Both made an incredible improvement in how the rig handles. I only have 27# in the bags and the truck is only a half inch under stock height in the rear. It rides almost like stock unloaded with the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me Cougar on an F150 Supercrew

Well, it was a productive afternoon. I built some supports for the storm flaps out of 1.5"x.25" poplar strips and 1.5" wide Velcro. Stapled the Velcro to the poplar and used the Velcro as a hinge. Shorter arms for the flaps next to the bed to keep the morning sun out of our eyes. And a detail...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me Cougar on an F150 Supercrew

I checked that yesterday. The stock lug nut wrench/crossbar that you use to turn the extension obviously won't work. But I have a box end wrench that fits the square end of the extension perfectly that I'll carry to turn it.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West New to me Cougar on an F150 Supercrew

I bought the 2011 ATC Cougar that has been listed in the classifieds here yesterday. I was leery about the length on my 5.5ft bed but decided that half of the ~1000lb ATC was no worse than having a decent size trailer's tongue weight on the hitch. After having it loaded, it drives fine. I found...
