Hello vintagehistoric! My '63 NCO had the same issue: no overhead bins. I'm happy to share images of my build and answer any questions as to how I went about creating/hanging the bins.

For my '63 NCO restoration I installed tandem LiFePO4 lithium batteries under the dinette seat. You're definitely in the right place for questions, answers, information, and images of how others have restored their Alaskans. Best of luck on your restoration!

Great to hear you were able to address the issue on the site and were able to move your Alaskan lowered. Do you think it simply got stuck and then racked the pistons such that one side got "scrunched up" or are you of the opinion that its a different issue? I ask as... the first couple times...

Do you happen to have any pics of the situation? I think they'd be very helpful in trying to diagnose it.

Wolfbox, huh? Doing some research now. I gotta say that I do like the idea of replacing my rearview mirror with a larger format screen.

Duallydodge, I had a similar issue when pulling apart my Alaskan's bulkheads: Both stacked wood, not ply. Very odd set, imho. I ended up using 5/8" marine grade ply to replace the stack. Seems to be significantly more rigid than the original. Good luck on your build!!

Honestly? I won't often cook inside. I rebuilt a '72 Kit Companion and used it for years without cooking in her. Knowing that about the way I camp I decided that - for me - it didn't make sense to spend that much on the vent; but I did indeed want a vent there, just not a $250 vent. Whereas...
