RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Need some help on overhead cabinets

Hello vintagehistoric! My '63 NCO had the same issue: no overhead bins. I'm happy to share images of my build and answer any questions as to how I went about creating/hanging the bins.

For my '63 NCO restoration I installed tandem LiFePO4 lithium batteries under the dinette seat. You're definitely in the right place for questions, answers, information, and images of how others have restored their Alaskans. Best of luck on your restoration!

Thank you to all for your suggestions! I've recently purchased/received a Wolfbox g900 and am partway through install. More to follow upon completion... "The mountains are calling and i must go." - John Muir

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Big problem

Great to hear you were able to address the issue on the site and were able to move your Alaskan lowered. Do you think it simply got stuck and then racked the pistons such that one side got "scrunched up" or are you of the opinion that its a different issue? I ask as... the first couple times...

Do you happen to have any pics of the situation? I think they'd be very helpful in trying to diagnose it.

Wolfbox, huh? Doing some research now. I gotta say that I do like the idea of replacing my rearview mirror with a larger format screen.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Sights Unseen?

Yesterday I finally loaded my '63 Alaskan 8' NCO onto my '63 Ford F250. (When I get the wanderthewest pic upload functionality to work again I'll post pics of the mated pair.) Something that came out of yesterday's endeavor - beyond the incredibly close tolerances when loading - was a...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 1966 Alaskan Camper NCO

Duallydodge, I had a similar issue when pulling apart my Alaskan's bulkheads: Both stacked wood, not ply. Very odd set, imho. I ended up using 5/8" marine grade ply to replace the stack. Seems to be significantly more rigid than the original. Good luck on your build!!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Vents and Fans

Honestly? I won't often cook inside. I rebuilt a '72 Kit Companion and used it for years without cooking in her. Knowing that about the way I camp I decided that - for me - it didn't make sense to spend that much on the vent; but I did indeed want a vent there, just not a $250 vent. Whereas...

Just finished this today: Installed 2 MaxxAir fans above the bed/table and a new Heng's vent above the galley. That light at the end of the tunnel grows larger and brighter with each passing day... :-D https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/gallery/image/25034-maxxair4/

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Remounting the Alaskan Top

Bos_Trok, excellent question my friend! I love my '63 Alaskan and, as such, have been trying to outfit her with as many "time-period-specific" items wanted that I can find. I've scoured Bay Area antique shops with my youngest son (the heir apparent to our Alaskan as he's been my partner in...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Forward Bulkhead Window Glazing

Hello Alaskan Camper Nation! I've spent the past week looking for various window sealants and glazing for my '63. I've tracked down all but one: https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/gallery/image/25021-glazing-1/ https://www.wanderthewest.com/forum/gallery/image/25022-glazing-2/ Any idea...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Remounting the Alaskan Top

Thx for the replies! In the end... 5 of my framers and my son helped me lift and align the top. Took all of about 5 minutes to mount and align - given the ready availability of manpower. It was much easier than anticipated. Some pics...
