Found a short-wheel base truck, own a 8' FWC Grandby. Conversions?

Hi All, Currently own a FWC (8') Grandby on a late-model Ford F350 6.7. Although I like my truck fine, I have always wanted the 2000-era Dodge ram cummins, my dad and brother own them and they really are as bullet-proof as everyone claims. I found a Short-wheel base 6.75' bed ram and...

    Roof Seal premature cracking

I cleaned it with mineral spirits and denatured alcohol after removing old sealant and let it dry baking in the sun before application in the evening shade.

    Roof Seal premature cracking

Thanks Craig, Lots of good info here. I removed existing, cleaned and prepped with Mineral Spirits and denatured alcohol. I think in some areas I just have to add more Proflex. I'm starting to wonder if my roof latches may be too tight due to the proximity of this crack. I will reapply more...

    Roof Seal premature cracking

Hi all, I sealed the roof perimeter with Proflex approximately 1 month ago. I've sealed campers before with success, but have never really been completely impressed with proflex. I understand that there is shrinkage during cure. I loaded the camper yesterday for the first time and just the...

    Roof screws question

It turned out pretty good. Only the center line was hard to access the rest you could do with a ladder. I had a lot of extra Dicor, and in the PNW water will find a way. I'm glad I did it.

    An electrical Question

Thanks for the great information and link.

    An electrical Question

Good point, Floods are on my to-do list. Would 12 Gauge suffice here? I bought a spool recently. Perhaps I'll finally use an upfitter switch for that.

    An electrical Question

I don't have Clearance/Marker lights in my Grandby, as such the third prong of the attwood plug can remain dead. Should I run a hot wire there anyway just in case I may need to use it in the future for other things? I read somewhere about someone using that power source for their dc-to-dc...

    An electrical Question

Thank you for the input. I don't have solar yet unfortunately, that is next summers plan. I planned to solder that joint at the attwood connector with the 8Gauge-to-10G.

    An electrical Question

Would a 30 amp inline fuse suffice? I have half a dozen of those laying around.

    An electrical Question

Okay thank you, I read something here about AGM's and ACR's I must have misunderstood it. So, Blue Seas 7611 with (1) 30AMP Thermal Breaker supplied usng 8 Gauge CCA wire to Female Receptacle, tied into AUX batteries. Am I missing anything?

    An electrical Question

Curious Do you know if the ACR is compatible with AGM batteries? I have 2 Optima Yellow Top and I've read it's not a good mix? I searched ACR for AGMs with nothing.

    An electrical Question

So perhaps I should get 8 Gauge. I planned on soldering at the receptacle and then butt connectors elsewhere

    An electrical Question

Hi All, I purchased an Attwood Female receptacle for the truck and notice it has 10 Gauge wire affixed to it. I was planning on running 8 gauge wire to the truck battery, but would that be nullified by the 10 gauge wire? In other words should I just run 10 Gauge to the battery? Also I've read...

    Electric Vent/Fan recommendations?

Excuse my ignorance but during vehicle charging i think it's around 14.2, but do the problems only arise if the fan is run/on during the high V? Or if it's simply supplied with the power?

    Electric Vent/Fan recommendations?

I'd love to see one too.

    Electric Vent/Fan recommendations?

Great points, DO you think that voltage regulator is necessary for when the vehicle batteries are charging the system? I'm going to be installing that Attwood receptacle for this and didn't know if this is similar to solar charging.

    Roof screws question

Did you wait for the profex to cure before applying the Dicor over, or just all in the same session?

    Roof screws question

Hi all, I've read a lot here about the roof screws and see that many are using a 3M 4200 sealant. Curious why one wouldn't just dollop the top of the screw with Dicor lap sealant? Or if doing both makes sense? I have a lot of Proflex sealant laying around and was thinking about applying that...

    Electric Vent/Fan recommendations?

Oh sorry I mixed it up with the 5301 which is exhaust only. You and I have the same fan just different lid covers colors.

If you can only choose one location, where would you place a fan?

Awesome thank you. I bought the maxxfan 6200k, Kinda wish I would have gotten the remote now, but I think I will be happy. I was aiming at just venting the front section, but perhaps I'll buy a second electric fan.

If you can only choose one location, where would you place a fan?

VIc and you are onto something. This is what I'll do. Thanks for the input.

If you can only choose one location, where would you place a fan?

A nice rationale. If I had confidence in the equipment I would have bought 2 fans straight away. Which fan do you have out of curiosity?
