Anyone else upgrade their thermostat and change the burn cycle of their furnace?

Before I break out the multi-meter I'll bypass the thermostat and see how the furnace cycles, and I will also see how the thermostat is set to cycle. The furnace seems more suspect to me than the thermostat, but I am out of my strong suit here. I will report back, probably in a few days after I...

Anyone else upgrade their thermostat and change the burn cycle of their furnace?

Is this what you are referring to: Page 7 of the Installation Guide: Setup Function #5 Heating Cycle Rate, default is for oil or gas furnaces < 90% efficient. Sounds about right, but I suppose I could try others. I will look and see how it is actually set. Thanks

Anyone else upgrade their thermostat and change the burn cycle of their furnace?

I didn't realize the Honeywell TH1100 had that adjustment. I will look into it. Is this the same thermostat you have?

Anyone else upgrade their thermostat and change the burn cycle of their furnace?

Thanks all. The stat is right where FWC left it. I do have a 3/4 tank of propane and both burners of the stove put put large clean blue flames, at the same time. It is curious to me that the issues of my furnace would change with thermostats. Perhaps one thing led to another. I suspect a...

Anyone else upgrade their thermostat and change the burn cycle of their furnace?

With the original thermostat (non-digital, year 2009) my Atwood 8012 furnace would not shut off - a recent development. The gas would cut out but before the fan finished it's cool down cycle the furnace would reignite and continue in that off/on cycle until I manually turned off the thermostat...

    Weather

Our nonofficial 6" rain gauge had 4.5" in it last night (total since Wed. night). This morning it was overflowing. No damage from the wind, thank goodness. We're about 45 miles east of Florence, Or.

    RFI Water Filters

I used the Katadyn hiker for several decades and was very satisfied, but a few years ago I bought a Sawyer gravity system. I love it and have quit carrying my pump. While some may feel the gravity filter is too slow, I think it is fine and it is much easier on my hands. In camp I have time to...

Boulder Chain Lakes, White Cloud Mtns, Idaho

Thanks. I'm keeping an eye on the weather and the Pioneer Fire. If my access road doesn't get closed and the smoke generally stays out of the area I'll be heading that way early next week, otherwise I'll go into the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Not a bad backup plan at all.

Boulder Chain Lakes, White Cloud Mtns, Idaho

Excellent. Thank you. I'll put that site back on my list. The smoke pattern lines up with the incident report on InciWeb so that's encouraging, but another low pressure system is due Friday with the possibility of thunderstorms and dry lightning. Thanks again for the link.

Boulder Chain Lakes, White Cloud Mtns, Idaho

I do imagine it's going to be a wonderful experience. So far I have not been able to reach anyone at either the Stanley or Yankee Fork ranger stations, but the lady I spoke with at the Redfish Lake Lodge gave me enough confidence to continue with my plans. Livingston Mine is a long two day...

Boulder Chain Lakes, White Cloud Mtns, Idaho

I am planning to take the llamas over next week for about a 10 day frolic into the White Cloud Mountains, but I'm concerned about the smoke intrusion from the wildfires (especially the Pioneer fire). Do we have any members in the area that can tell me about the conditions? My trailhead is at...

Irish and Taylor Lakes, Oregon, July 2015

It's a fantastic area for backpacking. Beware the mosquitoes. I've hiked with my llamas and backpacked into the wilderness area several times from Irish and Taylor Lakes. Drove in from the Waldo Lake side, through the stunning burnt area. The trail from Irish and Taylor is easy for walking...

How do you handle your mattress topper?

For my topper cushion I use a thick REI self inflating pad, the same type I use when packing into wilderness areas. During camping trips I keep the pad on the bed and simply open the valve on the pad and lower the roof. Between camping trips I roll up the pad loosely and store it between the...

    BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO ➙➙ KO2?

Thanks. I wonder if they really handle snow and ice better than the old version, although that may not be an issue again this winter.

Irish and Taylor Lakes, Oregon, July 2015

It's been years since I've been there also. We used to backpack up to Dennis Lake and explore the area which is the east/west divide of the Cascades. Lots of interesting formations and a hanging lake up there. You can still follow blazes of the old Skyline trail, but much of it is covered by...

    More wolves

For centuries wolves and elk co-existed in large numbers. Both species suffered large declines only after man and his livestock herds entered the picture. I find it impossible to accept that the large herds of elk have been decimated by the dwindling (almost nonexistence) number of wolves...
