RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Free! Vintage copies of Desert Magazine *TOO LATE!*

I have 13 or 14 copies of Desert Magazine from 1962 to 1974. These are a blast to look at. Especially the ads in the back for old campers and gear. Just paypal me the $6 to mail these to you. If interested email me at generubinaudio@earthlink.net

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Horror Stories

I just got back from an Alaska trip. The warm weather has resulted in all sorts of abnormal river flows catching people off guard as the glaciers melt. Along the gravel Denali Hwy, the levels in the beaver ponds have sadly receded leaving the beavers to predation. Nearly none left where there...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dempster Hwy Yukon, anyone want to drive my camper back home?

Hi Vic, Stashing it up north has occurred to me. One thinks of Anchorage as being close to were I'm going but Anchorage is actually 1100 miles from Inuvik. I could stash it in Whitehorse but I'd go back for it maybe a month later. The ferry system I've done before, I prefer the land route...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cabeza Prieta NWR, Arizona

I've been to Cabeza Prieta a couple of times. Beautiful country but sadly I had visits from both drug runners, people runners, and border patrol in trucks, and in helicopters. If you are in that area, I would suggest KOFA National Wildlife Refuge as a wonderful place to spend a week or so...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Four Corners Planning

If you're at Navajo National Monument, I suggest the "overload" camping area. It is the original with the best views and few if any people. Since you mentioned Bluff, Utah. Best camping is at Goldmine Camp (free, on BLM) which is on the San Juan River under some big cottonwoods. 4wd required...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Cerro Gordo

Yep, I have been up it many times. You can go over to the east side and down to Lee's Flat. Either way, it is easy on a full size. I use my Dodge 2500. It's handy to have a manual trans rather than using brakes on the way down. It's steep!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Dempster Hwy Yukon, anyone want to drive my camper back home?

Hey folks, It's been a while since I have posted on this site. I have put in many trips into Canada's arctic and Alaska. But, alas, it has been 5 years since I have been up that way. What I am missing the most is northern BC, Yukon, and NWT. I enjoy the drive up from Ventura, CA but I don't...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2015 Baja And The Whales Of Laguna San Ignacio

Suni, I suggest highly the one day, San Juan River trip with Wildrivers out of Bluff. For camping, find Goldmine, 4 miles west of bluff. Oh yeah, and the White Rim if you haven't done it yet!

Andy, yes I saw that house. We did enjoy being in the village for all the social activity. We even did a mini performance at one of the eateries. We went to the Cascada, and way up the river. Our house was above the village pier and towards the point, 1/2 up the hillside.

Hello Andy and Susan, Thanks for letting us know about Yelapa. It is fantastic! Friendly people, incredible food (especially at Los Abuelos), and very inexpensive. We rented a house in the village for a week. We are already dreaming of our return trip!

Greater Death Valley area is closer to you, Joshua Tree pales by comparison. Me, I'd go straight to Saline Valley Hot Springs and spend the whole time there. Good place for kids as well! Be sure to have your chains for Saline!

Some of us are likely going down again in March. Baja is very sadly being paved over. I've done it alone plenty of times. But a one person bluegrass/jazz jam kinda' sucks. So that's why I prefer to go with friends.

I don't know why, I just thought you guys might find humor in this. When I was living in Switzerland and even in Algeria I used to see plenty of these Lada Niva 4wd cars. They are actually very capable, solid axle, coil sprung, and even came in diesel versions. Well, anyway, people around the...
