RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Magruder Corridor

High campsites with great views. Campsites on the river. That is a darn nice area to have as a backyard. Good for you. That should help keeping up on hitting 100 nights next year, too. Thanks for sharing.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West October is the New September

Jack, We spent a few nights at Texas Springs not quite a week ago, or right about mid November. Conditions were still the same. Texas Springs CG was barely being used, though we did several FWCs (maybe you in one of them). We were able to park our larger Tiger with no problem at usually filled...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Highway 120 Birthday Adventure - November 2023

You were way ahead of me as usual, I just guessed what you were up to. It did turn out well. Standing tall and strong in the after photo!

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How to be an Overlander

Our former next door neighbor was one of these. He had a Rousch series F250 with a fancy roof rack with all of the LED lights and a bed rack with the RTT and recovery boards attached. The accessories were always mounted to the truck. He talked often of trips to Utah he was planning to do but I...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Great Basin NP

Well, the Ski3pins have been hiding out for a while. We went to GBNP knowing they would be coming home that way soon. So meeting up with them was mostly planned. But having BIll and Veronica take a campsite right across from us was pure coincidence. And later another WTW member with an ATC came...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Advertisements

I was looking at WTW without being signed in and there were ads on almost every post. Signed in and they went away. These are new to me as well. Definitely a distraction to what I am used to, but I can't fault the site owners for trying to make a living.

Thanks Dadocut. I will follow up on this with the manufacturer.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West How can I have negative Amps?

I have 400 watts of solar and two lithium 100 Ah batteries. When my Blue Sky monitor is in Battery Volt/Amp mode it reads 13.7 and -14.2 with no appliances or lights on. If I turn on the fridge it will then read 13.7 and -10.2. Why would the Amps read as a negative?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West It's that time again!

I thought it was illegal to be on the playa when it is wet. Or maybe I am confusing it with Racetrack Playa in DVNP. But in any case, doesn't the playa become monster mud that sucks any vehicle down to the axles when it is wet? That could put a damper o the 30,000 vehicles out there.

My guess would be they were on the West Side Road, which begins and ends on Badwater Road. Wouldn't they be able to see that on their GPS? I wonder how many years we will be able to see their tracks?

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Fridge Draining Battery

I know it would not look great, but would putting something like a 1" thick piece of insulation on the outside of the refrigerator door help? This way you can still use the door storage and add insulation to a poorly insulated side of the fridge. Maybe glue a piece of corkboard to the fridge...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Summer Scene (and some aren't)

While the answer to this is a definite Yes, the flip side also exists. In 50 years most of California's agriculture will no longer exist. But areas historically considered too cold to grow anything will become the new agriculture areas. Much of central Canada is expected to become the new bread...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Single Sheet Roof "Tin Canning"...Why?

This has been an interesting thread just to learn so much from the engineers and see the brainstorming for solutions evolve. Vic asked if we have confirmed that the roof needs to be detached for the oil canning to occur. I would say the answer is no. In my case and that of Wandering Sagebrush we...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Exterior Reflectix

I read where someone that did this in cold weather found that in changed the trapped air pocket from the inside to the outside of the camper fabric. So, at night all the condensation formed between the exterior fabric and the reflectix, rather than on the inside of the camper. I don't know from...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Mormon Cricket Stories

We just returned home from a trip to the Rockies on June 25. When planning our return route across Nevada, we chose HWY 5 over I-80 based on the article posted by pvstoy earlier in this thread. Elko is on I-80. We don't want to deal with the crickets. Thus, we took HWY 50. Well, they are on HWY...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Single Sheet Roof "Tin Canning"...Why?

Wallowa, I agree it is not feasable to replace the roof. My statement is aimed more at FWC. They prefer to keep the smooth look and single piece despite this known issue and the fact that the seam in the two piece roofs never leaked. I don't have an answer as to what to do as it was never...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West FWC Single Sheet Roof "Tin Canning"...Why?

In my opinion, it is simply the smooth aluminum that is the problem. It was suggested earlier in this thread that FWC take a roof apart to see what is going on. They did just that 10 years ago when I had this issue. The tape had not failed. They had to chisel it off as Stan stated. FWC never had...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Portable 100w Solar Panel

We had the same Renogy set up as Lighthawk when we had our FWC Hawk. Because of the built in controller on the portable, we installed an external plug wired directly to the batteries and plugged the panel into that, bypassing the roof solar.
