RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2024 Tacoma with FWC?

Marty told me it is a proprietary thread now in use. It’s possible a different sku number bolt could work, perhaps one from a current model Tundra.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2024 Tacoma with FWC?

Ok, I just talked to Marty at ATC and he said there is a big issue with the new design of the bed and hardware. In my case, putting my 2009 Bobcat in the new Taco really makes the long story short that it will need longer bed to frame bolts. The issue with that is that the stock ones are not...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2024 Tacoma with FWC?

I'm looking at the Trailhunter, but I am wondering given the rear coilovers if one can use Firestone airbags on it? The payload capacity is only 25 pounds more than my 2005 so I am curious as to how this might all work. Given the boxed frame, how do you even mount the attachment points?

Nice to see those rounded corner doors, better seal I bet.

Thanks, it’s a ways off yet, honestly need to see how the new generation of these trucks plays out. My truck is going strong for the most part, some frame rust though so the clock is ticking. The goal is to move to the new truck in 2026-27 or so.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West I totaled my All Terrain Panther %(

I think they are 1” raft tie downs used to secure various items into the raft. Considering this terrible story, I am inclined to rummage around for a couple I know I have and use them as described above.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend 2023. I am looking at the new 2024 Tacoma platform for my Bobcat, hope the bed dimensions are close. The Trailhunter looks to fit the bill with a 6’ foot bed. The power train is what I was really hoping would come next, 2.5L inline 4 turbo-electric hybrid kicking out...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Solar Install on Bobcat, Need Help.

And all this time I thought I had a wonky isolator. Since my Bobcat is in "Drydock" for the next couple months I will investigate this and make sure my roof wiring is right. I have no issues drilling holes, my cell booster antenna required it.

I have just finished removing and replacing the rooftop fans with new fans and taking care of leaks, re-setting the solar panels. Nine hard years of ice buildup and removal seriously played havoc on the integrity and the leaks were getting bad. Now I am moving on to removing and replacing the...

Update. I have done a ton of research and 4 test drives of the new Tacoma. I have also run out of options in terms of getting Toyota to help out in any way at all in replacing the frame or even discounting it. It really came down to a choice of either spending upwards of $18K in getting a new...

Hey, would you do me a favor if possible and tell me how much clearance you have between the cabover and the "Shark Fin" anntena you have on the back of the cab? I am wondering if my slide out solar array might be too tight a fit for it...

I have definitely considered that but have not found any with the swap and not lot out there in general and they cost as much as a frame replacement would. I’ll wait until Toyota has given their final answer and then develop a game plan and then start more serious planning.

Thanks, I just found out this week my 05's frame is totally shot with rust and thus far, Toyota is not giving me any love. So instead of paying upwards of $15K for a new frame for a 14 year old truck, I am going to have it welded and keep it as a second truck, rough off roader and likely pay...

I’m well aware....now. I am trying to work with both the dealer and corporate on it, just to get even a discount on what would likely be a $12-$16K repair. I took the camper off this AM in record time, I’ll do some maintenance on it while the rig is down. Either way I am out my work setup...

Well bummer… I am taking the camper off tomorrow and not sure when it will go back on, might not ever on this truck. In going over my truck to get it ready to do some much needed maintenance today, I found some new rust on the frame. Then I looked all over and found it in really bad shape. In...

Nice job on the diamond plate, I did that to mine as well when I re-painted the underside a few years back. How is that Gen 3 Taco handling it with what I assume is a stock motor? My 05 has 194K on it now and every time I think about moving into the new build for the niceties like heated seats...

Time for an almost three years to the day update! Mileage is now 194K. The camper is almost 10 years old now and is just a flat out critical piece of "Camera Equipment" for my work. Since my last post and about two years ago, my wife and I finally got tired of condo living and bought a good...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2016 Tacoma 4x4 TRD Sport or Off Road Double Cab Shortbed

I have a super built up 2005 4x4 TRD Tacoma access cab that when stock weighed about 4,250lbs. Now with the camper ( 2009 ATC Bobcat ) fully loaded the whole rig tips the scales at 6,200lbs....that is a full ton over stock and 700lbs over GVWR. I do hundreds of miles of medium to heavy duty off...

That one looks about the same size. Our rig is outside all the time so I do run the heater a fair amount, especially in the Winter but not overnight while sleeping. All this stuff is just too bulky, I am looking for a cleaner and more refined look and it is just not out there....

As per the attached photo, I have a simple, cheap, good & somewhat bulky thermostat installed for my heater, it has served me well. But now that I have a bit more budget to work with I am looking at flush mounting & miniaturizing as many digital controllers and readouts as possible. I might...

Wow....I did a search on Hadley to see what he was up to and found this, gut wrenching. The same week I got my camper, I had one of these put on so at least the vehicle could not be driven off. Luckily I have never needed it and and hope to not have to but least the truck is not at all able to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West HQST 100W flex solar panels

Yep, they failed because they overheated, I can't even begin to fathom why people are gluing these things onto the roofs. I have had two 100W HQST panels on the roof my of my camper and they are screwed into the roof using the frame rails so I had to drill holes into the non-cell parts of the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Even Compressor Fridges Need Venting

My Dometic 65L has always done fairly decent with just the stock fan, gobs of reflectix insulation and existing vents but I do think I am seeing a bit of an improvement with the new 140mm fan. I can feel hot air coming out of the vent and with the fridge about half full the battery has not...
