    73’ Scout ii w/1978 FWC

That's sweet! One thing i changed on mine was pulling the old Suburban furnace. My cooler fits there now. I have a wave3 that hangs from a horizontal wooden pole on the door side. It is on a mount that slides on the pole for entry and exit. LP source comes out of the cabinet with a ball valve...

    6.2 GM Diesel

Thanks for the responses guys, my best bet is to leave well enough alone on my truck and spend some time on the camper. No problem on the tach, I do have a mini tach that I thought I would install in the empty lower left spot, but when I pulled it apart it seems a circuit board was in the...

    6.2 GM Diesel

ntsqd, I'm starting to feel like deleting projects instead of doing them ;) Curious how that altitude affects boost numbers. We actually have a couple alh tdi's with mild tunes and slight injector upgrades. I suppose your Caddy was waste gate? I wonder if an ecu controlled vnt would call for...

    6.2 GM Diesel

I was disappointed when Chevy discontinued the small block, but no doubt these LS engines are way superior. I do hope to get out there and bring my quad with me. It would be interesting to see how the TBI adjusts to altitude. I will for sure give notice if and when I come out.

    6.2 GM Diesel

Geared down I believe you mean, but yeah, I like the TBI. very reliable. I saw someone rigged up something to stream data on one, about a 4 second delay, but it was there. I think it was an offshoot of a tunerpro system. That was the only downside to OBDI, not being able to read live data. I...

    6.2 GM Diesel

Yeah, hard to beat technology when it comes to results of power and FE. But, I was raised in the age of simplicity and still cling to much of it. Familiar with the TV cable and the results of not having it tight enough, learned that lesson years ago. Had to fab a mount when I put the vortec...

    6.2 GM Diesel

as a side note on GM 6liters, we had some in service trucks. Had the opportunity to see one with heads off. They have a long stroke and very tall runners in the heads, must be what gives them the wide power band. Is the 5.3 head constructed the same way?

    6.2 GM Diesel

When did the LS go to DBW? Friend of mine has one along with an ecu, don't know what year. I think aerodynamics play the biggest role in mpg on our trucks though, not a whole lot to be done there. I did not pay attention to your engine swap, did you make your own control harness? I made a...

New VW Pop up Camper California

We came across a couple from Toronto in an older model while camping in the U.P., they had not been home for two years! Mileage would be great, but $100 grand buys a lot of fuel

    6.2 GM Diesel

I bought an 8600 gvw tbi in Detroit for a work vehicle once. It had 4.10's and a TBI, State of Mich fleet vehicle, I filled before leaving. 170 miles home and I forced 17 gallons into it. Ran AC and cruise part of the time. Great truck, when I replaced it I bought a 2 door '99 Tahoe and drove it...

    6.2 GM Diesel

The cam I put in starts power @ 600 rpm with a low torque curve. Trans is switched to hydraulic lockup and cruises pretty good, but cruising range is above the rpm I drive on the highway. But, we are rarely on the highway. I have a fuel log that dates back to early 2014 when I made my changes. I...

    6.2 GM Diesel

31" tires @ 50lb, 3.73 gears, 700r4, vortec heads, flex-a-lite dual fans, tbi w/gm performance intake. I have heard some pretty outrageous claims on mileage for the 6.2, 20mpg sounds doable. I can get about 12.5 babying it on a steady cruise. It is usually a little less.Having the aerodynamics...

    6.2 GM Diesel

The 6.2 I have is in a rusted untitled k5 that is on a friends hunting property. Runs great and has everything needed for a swap outside of upgrades. Just curious about others experience carrying a FWC with one. So far no real life feedback. If I don't hear something by spring, I guess that...

    6.2 GM Diesel

I have the original 5.7, I installed vortec heads, low rpm cam, and an electric fan. I bought an '85 K5 with a 6.2 figuring to do a swap strictly for fuel mileage. Since then the price of diesel and gas went opposite direction. I was just wondering if there was anybody carrying a FWC camper with...

    6.2 GM Diesel

Greetings from the other side! I am curious if anyone on the site travels using a 6.2 diesel. If so, what kind of fuel mileage do you get with the camper on? Thanks

Four Wheel Blazer Pop-up, Finally found one

Yes, whole different area, our mountains are a bump in the road compared to what you have out west, I do like being near water all the time though. Hunted in Greybull Wyoming once and out to the Phoenix and Concho Lake area, Snake River Canyon. I was at the Grand Canyon probably the only time it...

Four Wheel Blazer Pop-up, Finally found one

We run in to a lot of interesting things in michigan also. Can't get as far from civilization here, although there are remote and neat spots. A person hasn't experienced Michigan unless they have travelled the dirt roads. Took us three days to get into the upper peninsula, a 200 mile trip. We...

Four Wheel Blazer Pop-up, Finally found one

I have my spare on the front, no cooling issues and doubt it changes fuel economy, since there is no "economy" to it anyway :D . May want to consider something to hold your curtains open while driving. I have an elastic band with a snap on it attached in the corner for both curtains. Opening up...

Glad to, our blanket is large, cut in half it tucks about 18” under the bed, hangs to the floor, and overlaps 2 1/2’ at the vertical opening. Works great

Loading ours up now and heading north Sunday. Easter Dinner in the woods over a fire. I have a thin wool fire blanket I use for between the cab and camper in cold weather. Lots of heat will go out that glass. It tucks under the mattress and goes to the floor, makes a big difference if out in the...

Cool rig, I've had mine since 2010, we have a blast in it. Gets looks up here in the north, not many trucks around like it and few FWC's.

    Sightings thread

On Wednesday, 9/30/15 at 2:30 pm, I saw what was the second FWC I have spotted in Michigan (mine being the other). A four door white Dodge 2500 heading south on US131 and taking the eastbound ramp for Interstate 196. Just thought I would throw a line out. Kind of a novelty since I have never...
