RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 500 Miles along the Redwood Coast

This was a fun ride along! I always have to fire up Caltopo and google maps for such a treat as this. We're negligent on our travels to the coast, and want to learn more. We're heading to Salt Point next week for a few days in the new rig.

Looking really good! Truma products are a great step forward. We love our Combi. As far as the mattress goes, try adding a topper.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bundutec Odyssey

The mystery of the mob of mosquitos was solved. As I lay in bed with all the windows zipped I felt a steady breeze coming from the corner near my head. The tent fabric has a reinforced edge that tucks into a channel at the top, except where it didn't. It was a simple trick to work the fabric...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bundutec Odyssey

Here she comes! Bundutec is a dog friendly shop, and Callie joined the tribe. We went out for some Waterloo pizza for our first outing, then spent the night camped next to Bundutec. We enjoyed our Truma heater/hot water and took showers with the attached QuickPitch shower tent. I woke to...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Bundutec Odyssey

After 14 years with our 08 FWC Hawk we have moved on to a flatbed camper. Longtime WTW members may remember our various trip reports with our first gen Tundra/Hawk. As retirement approaches, we decided we were still firmly in the truck camper family, yet wanted more room and amentities. In 2021...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West 2008 Hawk for sale

Thanks, Ski. I'll work on it and get something posted. We like the larger camper, but I'm working out a few kinks with plumbing/electrical. FYI Price for camper has been dropped to $12k. With the Tundra as a package, the price for both is $22k.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Grass Valley

Be aware that Sycamore/Hammon Grove are just above sea level, so temps might be high. GV is supposed to be 92F on Saturday. The lower Yuba River is worth visiting down there, though. Wet wading for trout can be fun! If you drive farther up Hwy 20 past Grass Valley/Nevada City there's the...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Kayak on top of camper

Vic is correct. It's a 2008 FWC Hawk If you were closer, you might consider buying the camper in the photo. I'm selling it separately for $13,000 and with the Tundra for $23,000. Kayak racks included.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West South to Spring: Death Valley, Mojave, Joshua Tree, Anza Borrego, Organ Pipe

I enjoyed the whole series! Amazing to see how regulated parts of DV have become in the last four years. My trip visiting Hole in the Wall was twenty years ago, car camping. Driving out, the wash was wide and I gave my 15 year old son the wheel of our Chevy Tahoe. He promptly grazed some...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Wall Mounted E-bikes?

I'm facing the same quandry when we get our Bundutec Odyssey flatbed camper later this year. I guess it depends upon how far you can extend the hitch to clear the bikes, or do something lifted like you have built. Our e-bikes are heavy at 50+ lbs.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Wall Mounted E-bikes?

I chose full power over the SL after demo'ing both bikes. In truth most of my rides are ~15 miles. I installed a 2000w inverter on our Hawk so I can recharge the bikes while camping. With the 700wh battery I only need to recharge every three or four days. The SL might require more charging...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Wall Mounted E-bikes?

I had a Stingray bike too, with a banana seat, sissy bars and caliper brakes. Now I've got hydraulic disk brakes! The mullet on my Levo is a 29" front and 27" rear. It's taken me a while to get used to sharp switchbacks.

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Rear Wall Mounted E-bikes?

I hear you, Captain D. We went to the dark side two winters ago. My full suspension Turbo Levo weighs in at 57# and my wife's step thru bike weights a few pounds less with front shocks only. When I was younger, I also did vertical fork mounted bikes and still have the fork mounts on my Hawk...

RV LIFE Forum Hub, Wander The West Leaky Hawk

I found our 2008 Hawk had black mold forming on the upper front push board yesterday. The truck/camper had been parked outside, on a frontward slope over the last two weeks of rainy weather. I wiped down the fake oak plywood with bleach water and removed the black spores. Then I put a 120v...
