Thanks for the encouragement! I need it, but I am getting ever closer to completion! Added some storage to below the cabinets. attachment=18035:Cabinet Storage.jpg] I cut out for the sink and stove as well. Still need to find a piece of laminate to finish the countertop. I still have...

I also added reflectix around the furnace compartment. I plan to put the fridge directly above the furnace so that I can use the louvers in the old propane access door for ventilation. Hopefully the reflectix helps keep the heat away from the fridge.

Thanks for all the encouragement and kind comments. I made a little more progress... 1/2" insulation on the floor. El cheapo laminate. Bed platform for the kiddo with storage underneath.

We went camping over Christmas, as is our custom, and my wife mentioned how nice it would be to have the camper. Re-inspired, and freed from the fetters of school (temporarily) I was able to make some progress over the holiday break. I got the bed off the trailer, the camper on the trailer (not...

Well.... the trailer is finally acquired from Dallas. New axle is in, 6x5.5 rims are on...starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. One thing that I did find out is that the chassis is an M116A2. Also, I was wrong in that the full up trailer is an M101A2. Oh well, not going to impact...

Cerdahl, I did think about welding the supports back in. At first I thought that was the only option. However, I saw a build (trying to remember where) that used the technique of L brackets and I think that coupled with screwed panels to lock the supports in, the brackets will be plenty strong...

Got most of the interior panels on. They are just tacked in place with finish nails now. I will secure them with pan head screws after paint.

Well.... I'm making some progress on the camper. I was scheduled to go to Dallas to pick up my M101 and the new axle that I ordered for it from Redneck Trailer Supply. But, my relatives ended up not being in town this weekend so I pushed that trip till next weekend. So, I got the insulation and...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West New Stage in Life - camping with a baby. Need Sleeping ideas

GBW, We have camped with our daughter (who is now two) since she was a couple months old. We have not gone out with her in a camper, but tent camping we ended up resorting to the pack 'n' play. Like you, we tried having her sleep between us, but that did not work well for a good nights sleep...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Four Wheel Granby Rebuild

Torboschen,I was in the same boat as you when I went looking for a FWC. New ones are pricey so a refurb seemed like the path to take. I'm in New Mexico so utilizing the factory wasn't really an option. I will admit that I didn't expect to dive in so deep on my rebuild, but I am optimistic for...

Frank, thanks for the link to the Brandon's build thread. Too bad that it looks like he sold the project. I would have loved to see it finished out. Second coat of poly on the new lift panels.

Made some progress on the camper. I was able to get a local place to make me some aluminum panels that matched the front and the back sections. I had them make me a new roof as well. It wasn't until I got the metal home that I realized that they had made the roof ribs to go the short way instead...

I will be sure to document as I go. In talking to Marty, it seems to be a very doable job. Time will tell. Rotti, Thanks for the link! It's good to hear that you notice a difference. I am looking at improving the the insulation of the camper in any way that I can.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West ATC vs. FWC Side Liner

@Rotti, You mention the value of the arctic pack. Do you have any impression of how much insulation it provides? We love fall and winter camping but my wife loves cozy temperatures for sleeping. As I have the original furnace (that I gather draws around 4 amps when running) limiting run time is...

Thanks Frank, it will be a huge project. I essentially bought a frame and a furnace for my money, but hey, a man's got to have a hobby right? I just checked out your blog. Great pics. Motivates me to get this thing finished up so I can get out and explore! Your images of trout fishing for...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West ATC vs. FWC Side Liner

Frank, Thanks for the heads up! It seems to me that there wouldn't be a huge advantage to having removable flaps. I will definitely talk to Marty about that. When I spoke to him on the phone last week he was very helpful and I look forward to working with ATC on this.

Like many other things that I planned to salvage, the roof had seen better days. I ended up stripping it down to the frame. I'm glad that I did because the mold was pervasive. Also, major cracks in the metal were hidden by globs of sealant.

Hey Folks, So, I'm in the process of getting my '82 Grandby dried in and I am about to order a replacement sideliner. I am leaning toward the ATC replacement, but I covet your opinions on superiority of one or the other. I have the basic differences down...I think. Different processes to...

takesiteasy, thanks for the kind word... It is possible that I am more foolhardy than brave at this point. After completely dismantling the camper, the only thing that I have been able to salvage is the furnace, the frame, three of the windows and the interlocking siding. The front window was a...
