RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West 2000 10' Alaskan C/O

A sad day but it has to go for personal reasons. 48 inches wide the whole length so it will fit service bodies as well as certain Dodges. (like my '96) Also has the rare factory screen door.... -Bill- https://bakersfield.craigslist.org/rvs/d/cabover-alaskan-camper/6575921114.html

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Help with Pirelli seals on 10' C/O

Here is an example of what I'm talking about. It is a metal channel that has a vinyl or other plastic insert that conceals the screws. I have no idea how resilient it is. If anyone has dealt with this stuff I would appreciate hearing about it. I don't want this to be another 20 year old plastic...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Help with Pirelli seals on 10' C/O

I'm about to tackle the Pirelli's. Any pointers? The outside seals are held in place with a strip that has a vinyl or other plastic seal or cap. Any secret to removing or re-inserting this strip? What size screws do I need before starting? Any help would be appreciated. -Bill-

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Desert

I could not have gotten into this spot with a standard camper. I had to approach through a heavy Joshua tree growth. It's one of my favorite spots..I love this camper. =Bill=

Been kinda quiet here so I thought I'd put up a picture. Our recent true shakedown to the Mojave Desert. A planned two nighter but a truck problem saw us spending the second night at a nearby truck stop. But that's another story. Here's the pic taken at Cima in the Mojave preserve:

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck Battery Issue

Guys I guess I've missed something. What exactly is the problem? The only thing I see is that your mechanic told you that your battery is "unhealthy". You stated that he had the truck to do an oil change. You didn't say you took it to him for a battery problem. You didn't say you had any...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Route Plan for 1st time solo female

If I were making that trip the Southern route would be my choice too. But I'm a 'desert rat' anyway. I have no problem with being on an interstate for a while. But I always see things that I just have to come back to explore better at a later date.

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Route Plan for 1st time solo female

Gosh, I hope this isn't a round trip in 6 or 7 days. Even one way it's roughly 285 miles per day on the most direct route. Gonna take some careful planning or the last couple days could be hectic. Sure could be a fun and picturesque trip though, whatever route she picks. -Bill-

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Truck Battery Issue

This is also why I use a manually operated battery isolation relay. I start and drive the truck long enough to ensure the truck battery is charged, then I flip the switch to top off the camper battery. When I turn off the truck the relay opens and the batteries are isolated. It's a bit more...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking For Ideas

Wow! That was a long read. Thanks Rusty. Lots to think about there. I don't really like the idea of putting a rack on top and giving away any profile height. But I need those panels up there and still don't want to add any roof penetrations. Going to have to think about all this. -Bill-

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Looking For Ideas

Fred, thanks for your ideas. I have looked at your posts and there are some good thoughts. I have had two other campers on this truck. Both had 200 watts of solar panels. More than enough for my needs. Because of this the truck already has two 6 volt batteries in the truck bed that act as the...

So......I want to mount a couple solar panels to my recently acquired Alaskan camper. In the past I've had very good results using aluminum angle bolted to the frames of the panels and adhering them to the roof of the camper with marine grade adhesive/sealant from 3M. Real good stuff and very UV...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Camper weight

David, there is an owner's certificate that indicates "Shipping Weight" of 1940 lbs. No indication of what that includes in the way of optional equipment. Jacks? Fridge? I just don't know. That's why I usually get real weights. Like you said, it's good to know for sure. I also usually get real...

RV LIFE Multisite Forum, Wander The West Camper weight

Hi Rusty. I weighed the truck, full of fuel, before picking the camper up. Then yesterday I weighed the whole thing again, with the camper on just after filling the truck with diesel. Certified real life weights. Same public scale. It does seem a bit high for a pop up, but not alarmingly so...
